brian and others...

what are some of the most common reasons a person would "run out of right arm"?
is it impossible to take a proper divot if both arms are straight at impact?

thanks

Running out of 'right arm' doesn't concern swingers. Are you swinging or using an inferior hitters pattern?

not sure...right now i am just trying to put the ball in the hole...quickly. ;)

honestly though, i don't know much abt tgm, so i don't know if i hit or swing.

alls i know is me low point and divots are not very consistent...

I dont think it is a problem only for hitters.

You need to keep the right shoulder not only back but down, on plane, until the hands reach impact position. If not doing so, you will run out of right arm with a throwaway as a result.

'hitters' and swingers need to move there right shoulder down plane. For the 'hitter' moving your shoulder down plane allows you to drive your right arm with maximum power. You run out of right arm when you do not get your right shoulder down plane. It is like shooting a gun without a clear site picture.

Swinger: right shoulder down plane

Hitter: right shoulder down plane + a driving right arm.

Right sided swinger who doesn't move the club arc center to the right elbow (ME): right shoulder down plane.

I gotcha. But wouldn't running out of right arm hurt the swinger as well especially in regard to the right shoulder moving downplane (or am I off the path, here)?

Pretty much the only reason is an off plane right shoulder and a lack of axis tilt. The less you of either the faster the right arm HAS TO EXTEND to hit the ball otherwise you'd whiff, LITERALLY.

does one's setup have anything to do with the amount of axis tilt you'll need to keep the right arm bent until follow through?

Running out of Right Arm or Bent left wrist?

It sounds like you may be losing imperative number one, the flat left wrist, rather than running out of right elbow bend. Check your fix position. Look, look, look. It is possible to take a shallow divot with both arms straight because the weight of the golf ball will drive the clubhead down.
