Notice you did not take my "qualified" explanation.

Absolutely, positively, totally FALSE!!!!

See below.

A very slight cupping of the left wrist could still be the anatomically flat left wrist of the golfer in question. No problem.

However, some golfers, Hogan e.g, cupped for a reason and were good enough to get benefit from it - as was his intent.

Unintended cupping however, right wrist cocking generated, is a very common swing flaw requiring compensations to correct. These compensations are beyond the realm of most golfers who inadvertantly cup via right wrist cocking and should therefore be avoided like the plague.

I agree that there are good players who can, and do, cup the left wrist and/or cock the right wrist deliberately. They don't have to take anti-plague measures because they know what they are doing and it has a purpose.

However, there are zillions of not so good players who cup, and/or cock without knowing they are doing it - or if they are aware of it, why they are doing it and the likely consequenses. These unfortunates are the ones who need anti-plague therapy.

Brian, I would be interested to know in what circumstances you would advise cupping of the left wrist and cocking of the right, should you have the time to explain.

Thanks.

marble or marbles

I feel many of TGM drills such as "wall of china" and training devices like impact bags are good for teaching impact but are not helpful in learning a complete release. Shoot a marble seems to be in that category. I have a extensive experience in TGM from a number of instructors but have always blocked my ball down the fairway. Finally I am getting the release. The throwing the ball video was one of the helpful concepts that lead to a breakthrough. So I have found that if I shoot marbles like a machine gun down the line I get the clubhead to pass the hands without flipping. I feel I was always overly concerned with the flat left wrist and my intensity with this mantra prevented a good release. Somehow getting to both arms straight didn't even help. I would appreciate any input.
