Softest ball / longest ball

Laddie is pretty good for distance and definitly price. The EV is a little better for spin as far as precept goes and still a good price. If money is no object, Nike tour platinum would be my pick. Pro v1 spin a pinch too much for me IMO. I'm gonna experiment with nxt's tommorow.

Can anyone offer insight on how the traditional Balatas felt? And is that the same as the Strata Balata?

Soft, soft, soft. They felt like hitting jumbo marshmallows, or tiny little puffy clouds.

I'm exaggerating, obviously, but they really were soft. If you hit one in the very center sweetspot of a persimmon driver it was as if you hadn't hit the ball at all - and I mean that in a good way.

I still have a sleeve of Titleist Tour Balatas. I putt with them sometimes.

They are sooooo soft off of the putter. It's like putting a little dollop of butter.

Best combo in my opinion is the TM Penta. Feels softer than a Pro V to me, spins as much if not more, and plenty of distance. Now I have a slower swing speed, ( mid 90's ) so it may just be the right ball for me - can't say how it will perform for the faster, better swings of some of you guys!

I went to GolfSmith late fall for my weekly ration of Pro V's.........yea, think about it.
A salesman insisted I try the Macgregor VIP. I did. Sweetest ball I have ever played.
Not as long as Pro V. Haven't been able to find any since. Anyone know if they were discontinued?

It makes you think though- Tiger Woods hit these balls over 300 yards with a 43 inch steel driver.
