Solving of chipping problems

Well I'm back to short game practice only after doing a few silly things with lifting suitcases. Chipping issues come back down to my main full swing fault and my pivot "stopping" on the way down or at least lagging behind. I seemed to have more limited success with a clubhead tucked into my belt but found out that the swing though of keeping my belly button ahead of my hands works a treat.

Would anyone think this is a bad thing to do?

Brian,

I really need to be back to full shots before we do the lesson, unless you think we should start with the chipping and work back from that?

I'm in no way qualified to answer this question with any type of technical data. From my own experiences, I have found that if I get my belly button to far ahead the club face stays open slightly and pushes the ball. This happens frequently in chips because i'm trying to overpivot or pivot too much for a particular shot.

When I chip I try to think of a long putt with body turn AT contact and it seems to be working for me so far.

Hope I was helpful, good luck

Maybe a bit of a poor explanation from me, I meant turning my belly button through impact and that turn staying ahead of the hands.

Cheers for the input

There are lots of ways to chip the ball.....If your struggling, try chipping by getting into impact fixed position with feet close together, weight slightly on left side, hips open, shoulders square to line, head behind the ball and just rock shoulders back keeping lower body still. Any time my chipping goes south I revert back to this.
