tour: Thanks for reply. One thing I did notice was all the criticism of how Hardy, etc. labelled the 1PS and 2PS. Very little went into the theory being generally espoused. Everybody seemed more hung up on the terms being used rather than acknowledgeing there might be other ways to swing a golf club. Too busy talking about shifts and stuff instead of maybe explaining why they thought it wouldn't work. Next time watch M Campbell, F Funk and P McGinley and P Jacobsen and say it doesn't work. Anyway, I don't want to hijack shootin's post. He and jeffy are having problems and I'll let you people help them out.

Sadly, Michael Campbell falls into the dreaded "1P top of the swing, 2P downswing" category, along with Greg Norman, Peter Lonard and good old CQ. BTW, CQ's DVD has been shown to Hardy-trained instructors: they agree that the downswing he teaches is 2P.

Also, you say that you've been at the changeover for six months? And that "It takes a good 6 months to even begin to switch over and get the idea"? What would his holiness CQ say! He had this to say when I mentioned that I'd been working on the 1PS for nine months:

Nine months is a VERY long time to work through swing changes for an amateur. Why do I say amateur? Because an amateur doesn't have to continue to try and make a living while making a change. You can rebuild from the ground up with no loss in income. A pro doesn't have that luxury. The golfers who have seen me in person and left keeping things simple are playing their best golf ever. But like Lefty said, I can only lead you to water. By all means, continue to go down this extremely technical path and prove me wrong. You will become world famous, as will your instructor, for being the only golfer to get extremely technical about the swing and play very good golf at the same time.

Bups, why don't you just scrape together the coin for a lesson from the quackmeister and you'll be ready for Q-school???

One final note, I noticed that CQ has deleted the thread where he was touting the cupped left wrist at impact. Guess he must want to save that unique insight for the Members Vault!

3 points to make here,
1. if you did not want to hijack my post then why did you chime in in the first place
2. bring your clubs, your game, and my cash. We can play from the middle tees if you like.
3. It seems as though you are insecure about your swing choice or you would not worry about mine so much, I see mine on tape and KNOW it is coming along nicely

You're so macho! Did you take Garth up on his bet? Didn't see a reply? Insecure, I don't think so? You seem to be more interested in who has the biggest one? The over inflated ego syndrome, better known as the Little Man Syndrome. You got pushed around in the school yard didn't you? Only thing that might explain your problem.

C-21heel rolls in with a penalty flag! 15 yards and loss of down for unsportsmanlike conduct to all who have maliciously attacked shootin4par and his attempt to ask a simple question.

Come on folks...I think all the golf theories out there have pros and cons. Let's just try to help one another through all this mess;).

forward lunge VANISHED once I put more weight on my heels at address, backswing became more upright, and spine angle stayed more steady, still a SLIGHT increas. ON tape it looks worlds better and no more pulls, now just pushes. I took one side out of the golf course

I read this thread and have no IDEA what the heck it is about.

There are MANY reasons why you might LOSE 'waist bend' (That's the TGM term) on the downswing.

If someone would give a specific, I'll take a shot at a cure.

Brian, My original post,
"My swing is coming along and my path is better on the backswing, but still a ways away from where I want it, and also better on the downswing, better extension, but still some work left there. Two Big probles still exist. A forward lunge with my head moving towards the target and loosing spine angle, straightening up, on the downswing. ANy Ideas as to the causes, any relation between the two, what should I do to fix these problems?"
Basically when looking at my swing from behind I was standing ALMOST completely striaght up at impact. That is taken care of now though and this post does not really matter anymore. I changed my weight at address and by looking at it on tape, it changed many of the dynamics of my swing.
