starting to get to me

While I am waiting for Brian to respond for a lesson I figured I would see if anyone here could give some advice. I have taken several lessons from Brian and each time I walked away hitting much better. The last lesson Brian showed me the NSA pattern. I was off and running! Never hit it better. In about the last month I have lost major distance on my irons and driver. I think I am running out of left arm(i am a lefty) and flipping at it. But for the life of me I can't fix it. I don't feel anymore compression on the ball. I know Jim and Brian say that often times you start overdoing things and it gets you in to trouble and I know I am over doing something but WHAT. I have tried the NHA pattern, and all I do is come over the top of it and hit a pull or pull draw. And the NSA pattern I am getting thin, fat, and the good shots or week with little or no divot.

thanks

Sounds like you've "lost the twist." If you were someone who needed NSA it was most likely because you have an open clubface problem (as do i to this day that i have to be mindful of).

Go back to basics, hit pitch shots using twistaway and putting the club on the movie screen then slowly work your way back up to full swings.

Sounds like over-acceleration and an open face issue to me.

I agree with Jim. I believe everyone has ingrained swing faults that crop up from time to time. When we least expect it, they pay us a visit.

Jim do you think I am over-accelerating because of something else? I believe I am over-accelerating but I think it is because when I started to lose the distance on my shots my instinct is too try to hit it harder. I don't know if that makes sense. I am really confused right now with my golf swing. I guess what I am trying to ask is do you think that is the root of the problem or lack of twisting.

the root problem is an open clubface most likely

Are you trying to over-accelerate into the ball, with too much hip shift to the left in the early downswing, thereby letting your spine/head move too far ahead => weak push-slices?

Jeff.
