Hey Jim and others,
Wouldn't Microsoft Access be a lot better to use than Excel? I know that most people don't have Access and it is fairly expensive, but as a database program I believe it would do a lot better job if somebody wants to really get into doing this. However, I know that Jim is a lot more advanced in Excel than I am. I have a Mac now and have searched for some of the Database software programs available, but was never sure how extensive they could be used for such purposes. If anybody has used any of the database packages for a Mac, please let me know how robust they are. I would be more than happy to work on such a program.

Jim S.

Access works better as a database yes, however i am not well versed in creating the proper forms to make it friendly. I can make Excel "work" like a database for this particular application and it should be fine because the amount of data should be rather small.

Sample of some statistics from Intelligolf

Ave Score, Ave Score vs. par, Ave Greens in Reg, Ave Eagles, Ave Birdies, Ave Pars, Ave Bogies etc etc, % Greens in Reg, % Birdies, % Pars etc etc, Driving Length Ave, Ave Drive length 1W, Ave Drive length 3W etc etc, Ave Fairways hit, Ave missed left, Ave missed right, % Fairways hit, % left, %right,

Short Game, Ave Ups and Downs, Ave Bunkers, Ave Sand Saves, %'s for same, Numbers of same by par 3's, par 4's and 5's.

Putting: Ave Putts greens in reg, Ave putts/round, Ave Puts under 4'. Ave Putts 4 to 10', Ave putts 11-20', etc etc. Ave one Putts, two putts etc etc, %'s for same and actual numbers for same.

The above list is NOT complete. It's a sample. The entry sheet to record your data is very user friendly with drop downs etc.

I've taught Excel and still program macros several times a month. Intelligolf is too complete to reinvent the wheel. Check it out.

Disclaimer: I have no connection with Intelligolf, just think the product is robust.

Only problem is, it won't run on a Mac.

Scorecard will work on Mac. I just downloaded the demo version to try it out. Full version but can only use a few times I think. Not as robust as you all are looking at but maybe worth a try. I think Jim K. can build a great xl spreadsheet no problem. Database program access or filemaker is over kill in my opinion.
