My name is Doug. I am a throwaway flipper.

Step 1: got the Confessions video. Starting my recovery with towel drill, impact bag work and lots of chipping practice in back yard.

Results so far seemed great. Much better chips using pivot. Seemingly have hand forward with consistant contact like Brian's demonstrated chips.

Problem: went to hit full swing on a simulator at lunch today and I am WAY WAY WAY left. I have increase my distance but I'm so left it is ridiculous.[xx(]

I live near Valley Forge PA and the only AI in my area is John Savage GSEB who works at a small driving range about an hour from my home. While I am trading voicemails with him to setup a session.....any thoughts to get me to the next step of my recovery? (straigthen me out....literally).

Thanks

I'm outside philly. I never met John. He is in Flanders, NJ?

Check that the heel pad of your left hand is ON TOP of the club and that the thumb is on the back half of the grip.

Do the divot line drill (34 min. into the video). Make sure you can do it without the divot going left and that your head does not go forward (towards the target).

You have to have enough tilt to direct the right shoulder down and OUT (on-plane).

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

6bee: Nice to hear someone on the forum is nearby, I am in Downingtown. John Savage works at "Mad Golfer" range in Southampton (near Willow Grove). On the TGM website the only other AI listed for PA is actually in Maryland (Richard Rounsaville at Bulle Rock).

Ragman: thanks for the image, that is very helpful. I am atcually going to try and setup my videocam over the weekend to get an idea of what I am actually doing versus what I think I'm doing.

Brian: Hit the inside of the ball helps (is this similar thought as swing to right field?). Can you elaborate a little more on "under the stick"?

I was REALLY hoping to join you at the August school in Canton but I have just unexpectedly become financially responsible for my mother due to some health problems she is having so I won't be able to make it this summer.

Thanks again guys,

Abudoggie

"Under the stick"...

Think of that training aid- The Inside Approach. Can't come over the plane line or you'll hit the stick.
