I'm no expert, but I do find the subject interesting and have done some reading on it. If you really want to learn, visit some fitness sites (not fire-and-brimstone hyperbole sites) and read, read, read.

I should probably stop right about here.

Lil' Brit,

What are you looking at that us guys can't see girl?

Shame on you.
Haha, I do think he is one of the cutest guys out there. I would be very surprised if a fit young guy with everything going for him would jeopardize his blossoming career.

I don't think there's any way that Camilo Villegas is on the juice. None.

Sure, he's muscular and defined. Weighs 20lbs more now than in college? He must've been pretty skinny in college then. Looking at that picture of him above, he's 190lbs at the absolute most. His low bodyfat is what gives the illusion of him having a lot more muscle than he probably does. Funny things happen when you start working out with heavy weights and start eating like an animal.
actually I dont believe he is more then 160, his player profile says 142 but he has probably put on some pounds since then

I think Matt has the benefits nailed about improving recovery and endurance. I'm also not an expert on steroids but talking with strength athletes about steroids I found that they help you recover quicker and enable you to increase your workload and still recover. People can exercise at much higher levels and more often and still recover.

I also don't think Camilo is on steroids. He is at the age where if you work hard you can get substantial gain.

As far as golf, steroids won't build a golf game for you, but if you have a pro level game they might make it that little bit better. So a golfer taking steroids finds that instead of fatiguing late in the round in tournaments he remains alert able to concentrate and execute. It might only mean a half shot a round, but that will add up over time. The golfer will probably be able to continue working on his game longer and harder.

I saw him a couple of weeks ago.
He really is about 5'9" and relatively slim.

He was playing well when he won the PGA championship and then his golf went downhill with his testerone level. Everyone is wondering what happened and why he sucked. Well his issue was part of the cause and i'm sure his confidence suffered so he had mental issues as well.

Once they got his testerone up to a normal level he is playing at a level of what he did before, A MAJOR CHAMPION. Remember that even though Tiger won the PGA so convincingly this year Micheel was 2nd.

Hi Jim,
I have seen interviews and documentaries of people on steroids. They have said that taking it is associated with increased levels of confidence. While using it, some have said that they believed that they could "walk on water." I'm sure that could help on the golf course

you think that's performance enhancing? get serious. he's 160 lbs. at best...unless he's climbing the alps in a tour stage....

He was 139 in college. And he is pretty ripped. Granted, he might have the testosterone at his age, but it still seems a quick transformation to me. Obviously, he wouldn't go for bulk, but I wonder what kind of physique you would get if you did supplement and just hit the range really hard. You might look like he does.

each summer I go surfing in costa rica for 4-6 weeks. When I go I take with me some whey protein, an over the counter suppliment. WHen there I surf most everyday and eat as soon as I am done surfing and have protein 3-4 times a day. I always loose body fat and gain muscle, I come home about 5 lbs heavier but I am slimmer. I probably loose 5 lbs of fat but gain 10lbs of muscle. People at home will even comment on it as well and we are only talking a month to six weeks and it is a noticable change, but then again surfing is very strenous and a great upper body workout. A lot of people may not realize what a structured workout and proper eating will do for a person. To put on 20lbs of muscle in a year woudl take dedication, if you work hard you could do that. Now if someone puts that on in under 4 months then I might be a little suspicious. The public tends to think some miracle diet or magic pill is what they need so a lot of people go the steriods route, atkins diet route, and all those diet pills. but good ole fashion hard work, dedication, and a healthy lifestyle is where it is at.

I gained roughly 20-30lbs in a 4-6 month span in my 2nd year of college OUT OF NO WHERE. I was already fit at the time and working out as well.

This was just the time that i "filled out." I was always much skinnier.

Now we're talking about jumping from roughly 150lbs to 170lbs-180lbs. People have different growth spurts but it's not like he's un-godly huge.

The sources I've seen say about 5lbs of muscle per 100 lbs of bodyweight per year is the limit This seems kind of low, but I think this is for bodybuilders, so you can probably gain more if you are well below your genetic potential or are regaining muscle that you've had in the past. Also it may not take into account the six meal a day with whey protein kind of diet. On juice you can expect about 10lbs in 2 months.

Anybody that's reasonably serious about putting on muscle will eat 6+ times per day and supplement correctly (especially after workouts). There have been days I've eaten 10 different times, I kid you not. Granted these aren't all huge meals but they aren't bird feed either.

5lbs of muscle per 100lbs of bodyweight does seem a little on the low side. But it gets a little more reasonable if you remember that people don't gain muscle at 1) a linear, steady rate; and 2) fat gain always comes with muscle gain. So if I gain 5lbs (total) over the course of a month maybe 3lbs of that is muscle, 4lbs if I'm lucky and had my diet very much in check. A pound of overall bodyweight a week is also doable, but again there's fat included and one can't really gain a pound a week for 52 straight weeks.

As you mention, though, those well below their genetic potential can blow up very quickly if they do the right things. A guy who's 6' tall and 150lbs can jump up near 200lbs in a relatively short period of time. Of course he'll have people yelling "roids!" behind his back but he could legitimately do it himself with only a protein supplement and creatine...and the most powerful supplement of them all...food.

Being a former bodybuilder I would say there ain't a chance in hell Camilo is on the juice, that dude is small. He is cut but he ain't thick no where. When you run test or deca or even winstrol you can't help from putting on muscle. You can look at a weight and put on 10 lbs. He's probably around 7 to 8 percent bodyfat and I know plenty of guys that stay that way all year from the proper diet. YOU could look like that with proper diet. Go to any jobsite in America and I'll find 3 roofers that have a body like Camilo.
As far as attitude yes you do feel superhuman but some of the smallest things can set you off so I don't think this would be a good mindset going into Sunday with the lead. I'm sure some pro's are on SOMETHING but straight up steriods, I doubt it.
