Suggestions for improvement

Interested in long drive (don't laugh) will be using speed chains or speedball to help improve my speed through the ball. Anything in my swing that needs fixing?

Cheers :D

I'll let Brian or any of the other Academy guys tackle your distance-gain queries, but I strongly advise that you find a Trackman (that you can use outdoors) and become best friends with the owner of it.

IMO, you would definetly benefit from the anti-pop out, club on the hip drill. Left arm flying wedge is too rotated and you get way under the sweet spot..Great Pivot though!! Also get a close up video of the grip for Brian or Manzella academy, looks a little funky and strong to me?

I'd work on a better technique as you work on speed through the ball. Speed is useless to you if you can't hit the grid. Get a really good instructor that knows about long driving and has a Trackman and knowledge of the D plane.

On the dtl. swing your way under it and can't square the face, it looked like a toe hit as your pivot pulled the open face away from the ball. I think you have a good shot at long driving, you need to compete and get your feet wet and see where you stand. just my 2 cents. Good luck.

I would be interested in how the speedball works for you along with any other training aid. I kind of doubt this relates very well but about ten years ago I was really into improving my bat speed in softball so I purchased several items to try and help with that. Basically the training was swinging a item a lot lighter than your normal softball bat but not too light. I used a 28oz bat normally and the bat I would swing would weigh about 18oz. You basically taught your hands to move faster by swinging a lighter bat. You then did sets with your normal bat and of course did some sets with something that provided resistance like fins or a parachute.

All in all it actually worked really well so I would think something like this might would work in golf to some degree. I was able to increase my bat speed from roughly 78-80mph up to 86-88 consistently and even topped out on one swing at 94mph. The one thing that I remember that really surprised me though was grip pressure. Maintaining a light grip throughout the entire swing equated to roughly 5mph in bat speed and I had a bat speed meter that could verify all of this so I know it to be true. This is probably why when people overswing in golf they don't hit the ball as far because they tense up to some degree along with not hitting the sweet spot as frequently.

Post up your results as you go along as I am very interested in how it turns out for you.

Thanks for the replies, grip is a bit funky strong. I'll need to fix it even though it's a pain. Left arm flying wedge you'll need to remind me about I've not read the golfing machine in a while, is there info on it on NSA? Should I watch soft draw for pop out fixing?

I'll try post up my speed gains and improvements but I imagine it will be slow progress maybe with a quick jump at the start.

There's a Trackman at my local range but its only ball data it takes because the unit is in front of the ball so I'll need to find someone with one hopefully.

I think you lower body may be working a little out of sequence as it semi-collapses near the top so you tug on the club in the first move down instead of using the left foot for a planting type feel. Then you kinda just swipe it from underneath a touch (grip could contribute to that). Wouldnt mind seeing the ball further forward for the long drive thing.
