Swinging the arms.

I was wondering how many of you have tried, or what kind of success you have had with focusing on just swinging the arms. A friend of mine said he's had big success with just focusing on the arm action(elbow to hands) portion of the swing. In particular just making sure the elbow gets back to his side and just thinking about swinging the right forearm from his side into impact. I tried it and had to slow down my swing dramatically to focus just on that short right forearm motion, but my distance was everybit as good.

I took a lesson 3 years ago that focused on Swinging the arms but the arms were defined as elbows to shoulder socket. It did produce the lagging effect. It is fully documented in the Understadning the Golf Swing" by Manuel Torres. I do sometimes think about it but TGM pretty much takes care of how the arms should respond within the swing.

I've heard from a couple of different sources that Stuart Appleby concentrates a lot on his arms. He seems to have a hitting action, as per TGM.
Brian, have you analysed his action?
