Take it even lower....Handicap

OK guys, my handicap 16.7 at the beginning of 2004 and its currently 11.5.

What should be my focus to get it to the next level (single digit).

Most courses I play are between 6300 and 6800 yards. I usely have 8 iron or less into 90% of greens. My iron play and pitching sucks. Chipping is good, driving is good, putting is average. I always hit more fairways than greens....ALWAYS. Usually have from 32 to 38 putts per round. My miss with my irons is a pull. My miss with my pitching is fat or pull.

My swing "issues" is extensor action, and fixing a bent plane line (OTT, I am TOO steep).

What 1 to 2 things whould anyone suggestion I work out first?

Thanks in advance.

Dear 300,

I'm no expert but the quickest way to drop a few strokes off the index would be improved putting - going from 32 - 38 to a more reasonable 28 - 34 would definitely get you into single digits. It's more boring but if spend as much time putting as hitting balls your scores should show immediate improvement.

Pitching and Putting.

I think the Putting Arc is an excellent product that can help with your putting woes.

Ask Brian about the 'quick set' on pitches and minimizing distance hands must travel. 6-8 footers to get up and down instead of 15+ feet...for me.

Ya man pitching and putting.

Par 4:

You're gonna be on the green in 2 shots about half the time or w/e, right?...and the other half of the time you'll be just off the green with a pitch...knowing this, think about how crucial it is to be able to get those pitch shots at least inside 10 feet.

One of the things I've noticed is that many players, even some very good ones, tend to play too much loft around the green. My general rule of thumb is to use the lowest lofted club I can on all shots around the green. The percentages are more in your favor.

I agree. I see too many people out there hitting LW's. I have one myself but use it only when needed. I'll chip with every club in my bag except the driver. Get it on the ground ASAP.
