Teaching and salary

What is the average salary a TGM AI gets? I know some teachers on here may be uncomfortable discussing what they make and some won't be. It seems that a TGM AI would make a good living. I think Brian has said before that he teaches 8-9 hours a day. At $100 a pop that is great. I am 19 years old and deliver pizza right now, but $100 for me is a pretty good 7 hour days work tips + salary.

I did a little thinking and came up with a 7 hour teaching day at $100 per lesson. $700 per day. 5 day week = $3,500 per week. 4 weeks in a month = $14,000 per month. 12 months in a year = $168,000 per year. If you are self imployed and don't work for a golf course, you have the freedom to set up your schedule how your need/want it. I know there is more to it than what I have said, but for a 6 figure salary it is a little hard to complain. Even someone who wants to charge $30-45 per hour is still doing well.

Just thought this might make a good discussion.

I don't think it's quite that simple. As far as I know, the market is extremely competitive. I would imagine you need years of experience to get a regular clientel that would pay $100 hour. Im 21 and also trying to way up the pros and cons and trying to decide whether it would be a good move for my future to look at teaching.

Interesting paper exercise, but I think Brian and a few other pro's can weigh in on that there are a just few things missing from your model.

Most pro's spend considerable time studying and on research. This in some cases can exceed the time they spend teaching. Early in their carrer I would guess they spend at least one for one on this.

A lot depends upon your market in when starting up. Competition can make for a slow start till you establish yourself.

Then there is the initial out lay of expenses for training aids (including video etc.)

Don't forget you need to find a rainy day practice area (indoors possibly) and for winter weather (heated or a location that doesn't get poor weather).

Keeping current on golf is another time consuming factor that you don't get paid for but have to do. You will always get someone who wants to do something that Mr. x is doing that was either in a mag or on TV.

It can be a rewarding profession, but it can also be a long road to get to a position that you can make a comfortable living.

Just some thoughts. If you love golf, know golf, it can be a dream job.....

If your thinking of becoming a teacher money
should not be the reason.
Get the education --become an AI.
Study under the best AI you can find.Doyle,Kelnhofer,Manzella, Evans,Gring ,Hall And Yoda to name a few.
This website--- Evans' website , and the golfing machine site is a good place to get a inexpensive education.

Money isn't the reason I would teach, but if I can make a lot more doing something else then I have to take that into consideration. I was also trying to judge the difference in money between an AI and a non AI.
