Ted Purdy/David Toms swing

Maybe the only real difference about swinging a golf club is the teacher's perspective. Take Ted Purdy. Beautiful swing, looked great on TV mci Heritage. It reminded me of David Toms in the slow motion clip they showed a few times. A definite swinging motion.

Peter Kostis said Purdy was a student of Manuel de la Torre. We all know de la Torre teaches the importance of swinging the arms in the downswing, an Ernest Jones disciple of the swing the clubhead philosophy . De la Torre believes in an emphasis to develop a “true swing motion, devoid of energy robbing leverage.” And this is fine and dandy.
Yes, he did swing his arms very well - David Toms like to me.
BUT... I saw a tremendous, strong pivot. Right shoulder going down and through the ball, great body motion. De la Torre does say that with correct arm motion, the body will follow correctly.
In the past, many Golfing Machiners have been at odds with this de la Torre/Jones approach because of our emphasis on sustaining the lag and leverage. But the swing I saw could have been taught by Ben Doyle.
Brian ? Redgoat ? Comment?

A chicken/egg question if there ever was one ;)

The cause/effect in golf is a matter of perspective
