I don't know how many of you watched the golf channel's "Tee it up with Tiger", but if you did, I wonder if you found it as funny as I did.

I wasn't sure if I was more amazed by how absolutely fantastic Anthony Kim's swing is, or if I was more amazed by how little he knew about the golf swing.

talk about a true feel player, goes to show ignorance is bliss.

I WISH I WAS WATCHING IT. BUT NO I HAD WORK.

I don't know how much I believe that he does not know what is going on in his swing.
I am sure he knows more than he lets on.

That was great to watch though. Funny. And his swing is great.

You would be surprised. It probably is all feel for him. I'd guess 80+% of the guys out there have a basic "jock" mentality of hitting the shot they know how to hit and just working their way around the course.

The only place where the guys are more than likely to get overly-technical on the course is on the greens.

I am just saying he is aware. He has an instructor and knows what is working good in his swing. I agree most of them once they have a swing that works they don't think about much.

Brian has told me numerous times most of the best players on tour have no idea why their swing works at all; AT ALL. so i wouldn't be surprised if AK just plays with what he's got.

I'd have to agree 100% on this. It's exactly what was going through my mind while watching it. But then I had a third thought.... envy. How incredibly nice it must be to have that much natural skill to just hit the ball without any mechanical thoughts whatsoever.

I like his answer when Tiger asked him how he hits a draw... "I don't know, I just do it."

They asked Tiger when the first time he beat his dad; he said he was 11 and he shot even par and his dad was 1 over after 18. He said his first fist pump happened on that day. :>)

Kim on ball position said (for those who didn't watch tee it up with Tiger)

that if the ball is going to low he moves the ball up in his stance.

if its going to high he moves it back a little in his stance. Interesting.

I'm with you; I think if he were asked the right questions, in the right way, his knowledge of the swing would become more apparent - even to him.

And just where does that leave you? Hmmmm.

Ignorant statement. Sorry.

And where does that leave Hogan, Tiger, Jack? Do you think THEY don't (did not) know?
Really?

Technical golf was created by the talentless for the talentless.

I think I see your point, but was Hogan really talentless?

Maybe: "Technical golf was created for the type of player that learns best through technical golf."

The later in life people learn, the more technical they tend to be. I'm sure that most of the guys who end up on the PGA Tour have played from a very young age, and will tend to be less technical than the average joe who took golf up in his 20's.

Was it Larry Nelson that started very late? Has anybody got any of his views on the golf swing? I wonder if they tend to be as technical as my thesis would suggest.

I heard Larry Nelson said that he just tried to keep the club head down the target line as

long and as fast as he could.

Also, he said he learned from his shots/ballflight.

I really would like to see a breakdown of his swing.

I also think that he really liked Hogan's 5 Fundamentals book.

I would think that Tiger would disagree. He's been known to get very technical with his swing when he wants to. Even in the Tee it Up with Tiger program, there were times where he started to get technical about the swing and stopped because his audience was mostly high handicappers.

That's all unless you consider Tiger talentless...then all bets are off.
