Tension

I've been playing in a ton of scrambles lately and unfortunately, tension has really set in throughout my swing. Any of you have any drills or advice that can help me regain my tempo? Anyone here feel as though they almost let the club fly out of their hands through the hitting area?

Seems like I hit a lot of low pull hooks and fat shots when tension sets in. And, it certainly makes finishing in balance a challenge.

Tension.....the ruination of many golf swings.

Drink beer, that'll get ya loose. jk

I fight this as well, waggles and focusing on the routine and target help me a bunch, I really get tense, when I lapse back into striving for "positions" instead of simply making a motion. The concept of making a motion has freed me up a lot. I realize their are correct "positions" for me and I monitor them, but I do not try to force myself into them.

It tenses up all over the body, so does the shaft, when the "Lag" is sustained.

glcoach, so I should stop thinkin and start drinkin :)? I can do that.

Actually, it's ironic that you mention that as I can get way too involved with positions to the detriment of the rest of the swing. I guess that is all in the learning process.

"I guess that is all in the learning process."

That's true....sometimes you have to understand it before you can trust it. Or it at least has to work. (before you can trust it)

dont forget to breath, a suggestion I was given is as you line up your shot from behind start a deep inhalaton. then before the shot start to exhale and be almost fully exhaled as you start the back swing. I have found this work very well and relaxes the muscles and I tend to hit it farther when doing this as opposed to when I dont. people get tense and either hold their breath or breathe shallow, which tenses themind and the muscles and increases the fear response of the brain
