TGM (And Golf) Lunacy...

Concepts, science, technology, are they perhaps getting too dominant ? Is it reasonable to think that the lure of perfection with all our modern stuff has gone too far and one starts to neglect the contributions of common sense and hard earned experience.

I guess things can just be difficult while theories are still theories.

i.e. while things are in the "discovery phase."

With so much information out there, much of it conflicting, sometimes it's tough to know what to follow.

You do need common sense for making good judgments on that.

I do not agree with how science is being used in golf. It doesn't matter if you map out the 10 most scientifically correct golf swings, if you cannot teach. More time should be spent on how people actually learn new physical skills, and not how the swing works.

Golf really isn't that hard, but for some silly reason average players think that only a couple of years of practice would ascend them from the muni's to the PGA tour. People have such odd expectations...

I've been in golfer's nirvana for the last year or so: I don't practice, I don't care what my swing looks like, I don't care about the D -plane, K-vests. or 3d technology. I took everything that Brian and others have shared, and made it work. Is there really anything left to learn?

What kind of scores are you shooting?

I don't mean this as an insult, I'm just curious. I'm glad you've blazed your own path.

Oh, and there's always something left to learn.

I'm shooting what I've always shot for the last 2ish years: I'm a mid-70's grinder that is either hitting his irons great or his driver well, but never both during the same round. My score stays about the same!

What more can I really learn? I'm an amateur that plays weekend golf. How much can I really expect to achieve. 2002-3 I was a slicer that shot in the high 90's. I've peaked... No more learning! I'm having fun playing with the hustling old timers.

I don't care to learn anything more about the golf swing. I use to tinker way too much, and that nearly killed my game. I wonder how much more do the pros need to learn about the 'swing'?

How bout learning from 50yds in? Cant hurt the hustling. Those short game wizards can hide that BS handicap better than good ball strikers;)

That is very true!

The best golfer I've ever played with was an old man that could barely drive the ball 240 yards. He had a deadly approach game (always a fairway wood), and he could pitch, chip, and putt lights out. There's nothing like getting your hat handed to you buy a relentless grinder.

Not caring to learn anything new isn't the same as not having room or the will to improve. I just don't need any new information.

Ask Brian to explain why this is the case. He was able to talk to Dr. Wood (the ping guy) for 20 minutes and found out some really interesting stuff.

Short game grinders will wear you out.

We had an interclub match, I shot a 76 off of a 7 index at the time and got closed out on 16, by an old man who got up and down from frigging everywhere and holed out 1 bunker shot.

I was 40 yds in front of him on every tee ball and got absolutely drilled.

There's nothing I hate more than an old man with a damn wedge in his hand. Then they putt lights out, and I give them money. Recycle.

. When in the heck are you going to get-it-on with that Lorena mama???

I'm too busy trying to end Adriana Lima's engagement to that sorry Eastern Euro ball player. I hope Lorena doesn't mind being my safety chick. Ya'know the nice girl you date after the hot girl breaks your heart.

its always easy to tell who doesn't have a background in science in these science-based threads

Oops! You got me...

Let me guess....."everything is a theory"...? :)

Not too sure.....just.....a theory...

Ohhhhhhhhh shiiiiiiiii...

($#!+...)

All jabs aside though (yours too), you probably do make a decently worthwhile point. (assuming I've identified it)

Correct me if I'm wrong with my theory though.
