Sometimes i wonder if it's the strength you get from those type of workouts or it's the MECHANICS those things get you in.
I gained all kinds of swing speed when i learned how to get my right shoulder down to the ball with more delay.
I swing it in the backyard while the kids play and my wife rolls her eyes.

But how long would it take you to build the "inside approach?"
I'm a plumber so about 5 minutes and yes it tears up the grass but it's got divots in it anyway. Cost about 65 bucks to make. Three 10 foot lengths of chain, each one bigger than the previous.

Chris- be prepared to get some WTF looksBTW- I back up half a step each time on the backswing to stay out of harms way.(didn't work tonight). One more thing about distance- on their forum they say to acheive the highest possible swing speed try swinging reverse or left handed(for a righty) hard right before your regular drive. Obviously I wouldn't do this while playing but it did give me my highest speed ever on the swingmate. They think it must just speed your tempo going back.
You may want to invest in a couple of the low plastic step stools you can find in most hardware stores. Put a foot on each and swing away - it will save your ankles.
