Apart together.

as much as each shoulder can work independent of the other, the rotation in a golf swing comes from below them, and as such, they both rotate in unison.
Each arm does a different job, causing independent motions on top of that rotation, but they both are rotating together at essentially the same rate.
To fire a booze donkey off your back requires you to stabilize and cause rotation from your core.

After reading this thread it clarified to me why Brian insisted that I get left as fast as I could by leading with the left shoulder. I went out today with "trow the drunk" in my head and just played great!
this forum always seems to give me golden nuggets!

Key. The danger here is thinking only shoulders. If you really want to throw that guy, think big guy, think getting the legs stabilized, then use the ground to get the core moving and then let that cue the drive of the left shoulder back. How much, how fast? Think really big guy and your body will know how much energy to put into and how to sequence it.

I have been working on this move and the amount of force you can put into the ball is AMAZING!

The amount of push off the ground still seems to be difficult to control for different type shots. The down before up thing seems to be a tough thing to force myself to do. I think this is where I need the most work now.

Is this in one of Brian's videos?
I have them all but I can't remember seeing it.
I have however gotten a great visual from this thread and it is working.

I'm working on this a ton too. I think of the down before up thing keyed by what you do with your slants with the hips and with knee flexion in the backswing. What I mean is, I'm working on slanting the hips and straightening the right leg and knee in the backswing and then on the downswing having a very pronounced FEEL of putting more knee flex in the right knee starting the downswing, producing a Tigeresque, Hogan, Snead, Nicklaus(1963) look. "A smart man once said, it's easier to move to a position, than it is to hold a position"(Manzella). It's starting to help me alot, it shallows out the club, lowering the COG, gives me a feeling of crazy power that seems endless, pretty fun.
