Just wanted to share this with you guys.

My wife says she thinks Tiger played bad on purpose for the last 2 years !
She says if had won right after the scandal it would have made the public hate him even more..

So by falling off the map for the last 2 years and then making a come back it makes everyone love him for overcoming everything,, It kind of makes sense but is he really THAT good?

Just saying it is possible ha ha

That's so crazy it just might work!

I think it's been done before though. I think that's the reason for the under dog syndrome.;)

Regardless of his strategy, does anyone else feel like Tiger and Foley got together in the last three weeks and watched all of the "Release" material. Man, he looks like he is really stopped dragging the handle amd trying to "hold the wedges" through impact like when he first started working with Foley. He looks to be doing a textbook bend-back of the lead wrist, on plane, and even swinging left a good bit.

beyond his Q-score, tiger doesn't care whatsoever what people think of him. the validation he seeks is being recognized as the greatest golfer to ever step foot on this planet --which means beating jack's record. do you really think he's willing to sandbag for two years (8 major win opportunities) so people will like him more? this is america. and in america, when you got 600M in the bank, finding friends ain't too tough.

If he was that smart, he probably wouldn't have been texting his boo during Thanksgiving dinner with the family. Just sayin'

Your not paying attention, he had to put his plan into action thus the texting, just think of it as a pre-shot routine...lol.

Did you see his third shot into the par 5 16th? Shocking. It was like a bad Trevino impression. Good for him that he recovered. Anyways, here are some pics from the second shot into 18th that may give some credence to what you're saying.

Thanks for posting these. Unfortunately, I didn't get to watch any of the actual tournament. I just saw the highlight reel, including the shot you posted. The only shots I saw looked comfortable, and his whole pre-shot routine looks like he's incorporating several of Brian's "Release" ideas, as well as general d-plane concepts of swinging more left. Also (and I think importantly), I didn't see any shots that had that ridiculously-forced, uncomfortable helicopter finish that we've been seeing from him in the not-so-distant past. It looked more like he was coasting a little into the finish, instead of wrenching his knees off.

Since I didn't get to watch the tournament, I guess the real question is this: How was his driving overall?? If he gets that under control, he will be fun to watch in 2012.

Like I said in another thread that was the worst I've seen Tiger play in a long , long time. He looked uncomfortable and it wasn't even a proper tournament.
Also how the hell do these limited player fields (Nedbank also) get world ranking points?
What a joke.
All harsh stuff, sorry, but true.

Me too...

...And how do you get credit for making a cut in a tournament with no cut?

He didn't look uncomfortable at all to me. He shot 69 in the final round and played the last two holes perfect. If he was uncomfortable he would have choked it away. I guess your definition of uncomfortable could be different.

Just because you are uncomfortable doesn't mean you will choke it away.

I get very uncomfortable when I show up 5 minutes before a buffet closes, but that doesn't mean I choke and order off the menu. It's not always comforatable to "step up".

Haha, if Tiger hadn't come through yesterday with a victory all the haters would be saying, "Sheesh, he can't even win his own tournament."

Oy vey!

For me the way he won says something. Sure the field was not the strongest ever but making putts on the last two to win says something. To say he is "back" is a little premature but he ain't gone.

Don't underestimate Tiger's mindset when it comes to winning. Like Ricky Bobby, He is willing to do whatever it takes to win.

Zach Johnson is a multiple winner on Tour with a major championship under his belt. Tiger hasn't won in 2 years and has a swing that is a work in progress.

That being said, both of them had a chance to win a golf tournament. One of them lagged, and the other would have made it in a thimble. Those things matter.

Very offensive comment there, Will. We said that last year. At least give us the credit that we'd come up with something different this year.:)

BTW, I heart Tiger!

Your right on that Will , he can't win for losing. If he loses the haters jumped all over it and if he wins it means nothing. Stupid logic.

This^^

Personally, I think this win was huge for "Tiger". Not so much in the scheme of the PGA Tour. He might dominate again...He might not.

But inside of Tiger's head, this is a big deal. It validates his work and it validates his decision to work with Foley. He won coming from behind and with two clutch birdies when he had to have them. For Tiger the ONLY thing that matters is winning and he won by playing good golf in the final round. And he played great golf on 17 and 18.
