It probably wouldn't do things justice without "the whole story"...
Big galleries, big money (not sure how much it matters with some of these guys but...surely some), lots of talented guys who haven't been there before/often, playing with someone who is gonna challenge you, mother called you ugly as a child, etc. etc.
It all counts...but man...
On the other side of it.....I have got to be honest with how I want to react...and I'm sick of watching the same thing over and over! It pains me a little to have to have this same discussion over and over.
He was playing well all week and fell off his pace. It was boring golf to watch all day long. Especially knowing all the while what probably was going to happen. So predictable. Credit to Tiger on that...at the same time I guess it is a "reverse-credit" to the other players.
One should at least be aware of the 'whys' if ONE has any brain at all...cause it can't be easy. But he got too many oppourtunities in the first place. (I am sure Sean O'Hair would say the same thing) To his credit he capitalizes.
There is much to appreciate in him...to his credit he does not play for second and knows how and has the ability to play very well under pressure.
But I cannot possibly root for Tiger. It is so boring to watch Tiger win again after a day of boring golf, feeling nautous at the sight of someone falling back (again), listening to fans be annoying, listening to commentators be annoying, etc. (Johnny Miller was always decent but is letting me down even...and I mean in general BTW, not just Tiger-related)
On the plus side of that, Tiger plays pretty well and sinks a few nice putts with a clutch putt at the end. Tiger does another fist pump that looks good on camera and for the highlight reels. Big deal. I don't care. One-sided matches are boring even if they are somewhat come from behind (and "fall behind") wins.
I like seeing him in fields but I want to see competition.
If this were easy someone woulda done it already but sooner or later someone HAS to figure out how to handle pressure! Right?!??????????? (question markkk)
At least they can sound like they want to step up more in interviews. Or at least concede less to T. Woods, if you are more of the conservative, lower assertive, more patient type. (though that is different that giving some credit where it is due and then moving on) Maybe it is hard maybe golf just is this fickle maybe maybe blah blah blah. I will be overjoyed if more guys start stepping up.
Judas Priest for inspiration!! Hip Hip Huzzahhh!!
