Tiger Woods

The media did not directly make Tiger have to hold a PC, unless you are talking about the CORPORATE SPONSORS Tiger works or worked for. He didn't owe the press conference to anyone, not the fans, not the media, not anyone else except his bosses and his wife. I guarantee Phil Knight, and his former sponsor Accenture and CEO William Green thought he needed to be up there showing his mug and apologizing profusely, which he did. I didn't count the times he said I'm sorry, but it was plenty. I ask a question. How many Athlete's were held in as high in public opinion before what Tiger did? How many CEO's, politicians. We are talking about the MOST FAMOUS person in the entire world here. Tiger was a billion dollar industry.

As a Director of Golf, when rounds start to fall and lessons begin to drop, and club sales dry up, then I would agree that the Woods thing is "hurting golf". Will that happen? Be serious. I can just see a Saturday foursome asking,"you sure you guys wanna play today? Ya know Tiger cheated on his wife". Or a guy who cant wait for the snow to thaw to try out his new driver saying, "Nah, I think I'll send it back, Tiger lied". Yea, right.

I don't think he had too, but again for the sponsors who paid him a billion dollars to use his image he needed to make some gesture to keep the cash flowing.
And yes, he would still make tons of money, but 100 Million is alot more than 20 million and greed will make you do alot things.....

It's a shame we even have to discuss this but he's human, he made a mistake(s). Everyone needs to leave him alone so he can work on putting his family back together. Affairs happen more often than not and I respect his wife for trying to work things out. I think it takes a stronger person to stay and give it another try. Hopefully, Tiger will get his head out of the cup and things will work out. Time to move on.

PS I can't wait for Tiger's return. He elevates the game to a whole new level.

Calling or referring to his actions as an "affair" is silly.

Agree. This isn't a simple one night stand or a mistress in another town. This man has some psychiatric pathology---perhaps from his upbringing. Having said that, I think his apology was sincere and he is truly ashamed at what he has done. I hope he gets himself squared away, and that will hopefully save his family. I, also, can't wait to see him play again. Maybe without the distractions we now know were going on before he may actually be even better than before.

I kind of like the idea of him taking attention away from the first sponsor that gave him the boot. He doesn't owe the press or his fans ANYTHING. Who cares if he cheated on his wife or banged every whore in Nevada? All I know is that he should have picked better looking women, and should have managed his man-whoring better. Maybe someone should write a book on how to cheat without getting caught? Ernie Els should shut up, and enjoy placing 30th in events. Tiger is the PGA tour, and as such he has carte-blanche. Bow down to the god-man.

He's handles the media perfectly: You get what I decide to give you.

Ahhhhh - I haven't thought about Tommy from my Middle School years in quite a while. Tommy was the kid who was always trying to be the funny, cool, tough guy. Making fun of the "geeks" and pulling the girls pony tails. Walking around the playground like he owned it. Disrespecting the teachers and his parents.

After reading the pathetic, classless, not-funny, not-cool take on Tiger above I am fairly confident that self-mastery was/is Tommy. And low and behold he's still the same blow-hard he was back then.

Relax big guy, I think growing up being called a geek has made you a little too uptight. You need to let go of the past, flush your grudge against those jocks, and learn to love these so-called blow-hards.

I appreciate that the sports radio station I listen to has avoided the Tiger talk except for guessing as to when he will return. On one hand its interesting, but really none of it is any of my business. I hope he returns soon.

I hope he never returns but that's just me. I am 36 years old and I remember golf when Jody Mudd was kickin a$$ with his PowerBuilt irons and Chip Beck was leading the tour in money. Ahh The good ol days.

Chip Beck switched to powerbuilts and his game went south. I still remember the old powerbuilt rep moaning about how Chip Beck was a dog.

The powerbuilt rep always complained that they signed Chip to a big endorsement deal and then played horrible, I think they both agreed to part before the contract was even up....Not talking about what kind of person Chip is, we all know Chip Beck is first class.

very interesting...I felt bad for Chip back in the day when he suddenly lost it. I hope he does well on the Senior Tour.

Powerbilt clubs were pretty good clubs. They had a forged model called the scotch blade that were great looking clubs. Zoeller played Powerbilt for years, so did Charles Coody, Frank Beard, Larry Mize and a bunch of other pros, mainly from the south. Big orange bag with black letters, cool looking bag. They had a strong presence on tour in the 70's and 80's. Great persimmon woods too. I still have one, the citation.
