Toe shots!

I have gone into a pattern where I'm hitting most of my shots off the toe and they start straight and hook hard left. Don't have any AI's here in the Pittsburgh area and was wondering if any of you would be able to suggest what might be causing this. Taking the club back too inside?? Spinning my left hip out ?? Becoming VERY frustrated. Will welcome any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance. Dr. Dave

Bending the LEFT WRIST(FLATTENING THE RIGHT WRIST) through IMPACT can cause toed shots. Start with short chips... go to both arms straight while keeping the RIGHT WRIST BENT BACK(LEFT WRIST FLAT). If the ball starts striking the sweet spot, keep working on this. Gradually work up to full shots, while keeping this same feeling through the ball.

Dr. Dave,

What happens if you address the ball in the hosel and make the same swing?

I've tried to address the ball at the hosel and same thing. Even moved closer to the ball at address and it didn't help. I think lagster might be right--go back to square one i.e. chip shots and work back up. I went to a very early wrist set a couple of weeks ago and it initially helped, but then I got the club way too inside on the backswing and, as expected, over the top in order to contact the ball. This made the toe hits even worse. Good thing I love this game and love to practice! Thanks for the help so far.

Dr. Dave- I am an AI; used to live in the Pittsburgh area; PLEASE go see Matt Kluck at Mt. Lebanon GC; he knows as much TGM as ANY AI- he'll speak in English or "TGM-ese", whichever you prefer. Matt is an excellent instructor and you will benefit from your time with him.

dss, sent you an email--thanks for the tip about Matt. Brian, you might be right---I may have overdone the "hit the inside quadrant of the ball" thing. I sometimes get to a point in the swing where I feel like impact should be at hand but the clubhead is still very much inside and behind me. It's as though I have to manipulate something to get the clubhead back to the ball for impact, and I KNOW that isn't right!

Brian,
clarification please. if a righty is "toe-sy", he swings too far to the LEFT, right? and that means he is under plane thru impact and after?
thanks.
