Too much L to R with NHA

Hit some balls today (YEAH!!!) and some of my fades were fading too much. What should I check first if I'm using NHA2.0? Path? Face? Thanks

Curtis

It was going a little right and then more right (and high). I just hit some more but this time the ball flight was low and straight, but too low. I just can't win...

PS Was trying the same swing both times except this last time (low and straight) I was trying a steeper shoulder turn and not so flat of a turn.

Sounds like your ball postion is too far back....move it up some and don't change anything and then see where the ball goes.

I'd go with your path more left to offset some of that downward attack.

I'm glad you mentioned it (the downward attack). I know in Soft Draw, Brian talked about how he doesn't like the shaft leaning forward so much anymore. Does that apply with NHA as well?

I don't quite get this.

The more downward you swing, the more left you need to swing. That I get.

But if the ball is moving in a fade or slice then your face is too open compared to path, right? Isn't it a comparison of path to face that tells you how much a shot draws or fades?

I have this same problem when I try to to use NHA2 to hit a soft fade. I can't quite adjust the face enough and tend to over-fade (slice) sometimes. I do like the feel of the NHA2 - shake-the sugar - release when I am overdrawing. Like Curtis, I tend to overbake NHA2 left-to-right when I experiment with it.

Its just a hunch. It sounds to me like the plane line could be straightish or maybe slightly left and there's plenty of downward, but with an open face making the path perhaps a little right, sqeeze fading the ball.

For some, swinging more left with a higher right side (for those fighting BPS) helps turn the face down more. I"ve seen plenty of people try to fade the ball hitting down with an open face and it just flairs with too much curve. They forget how much left you need.

Agreed; they also forget how much more the face has to be closed for how left they are swinging.

So the reason the 2nd group of shots were lower was because of the steeper shoulders going back (right side higher than left)?

PS If it matters, I had a few sky balls with that first bunch of balls.

That's the hard part for me when i try NHA. I get scared closing the face THAT MUCH when swinging the club that much left.

It's just the D-plane niblick :)

Practice on the range and try to purposely hit pull hooks with the NHA type pattern; then just slowly let the face open up until instead of going left of left it goes left but then comes back right. Sometimes i find that when i introduce a new ball flight to someone you have to over exaggerate the ball flight so that they know it's possible and get rid of that mental fear. Then we just tweak it to where it needs to be.

Understandable. its hard to believe how much you need to turn the face down to the ground while swinging left to hit straight shots or fades.(i forget sometime because of what's natural for me)

whenever I do that, I would have a high draw....I really want to learn how to hit a nice soft fade.

Oh, I get it intellectually. But as a former pull-hooker, it's just hard to do!

Curtis, you aren't "Down the wall" enough or following the YBR...

Swing "lefter!"
