Torn Labrum

Range was soaked so they had us hitting off the mats. I was talking and goofing just warming up for a round, and hit a ball that was sitting on a wrinkle in the mat. It cold dead stopped the club, but my left shoulder/arm didn't. Heard it, felt it, wiped my tears and drove home. Few days later, MRI, wiped more tears and drove home.

Mats are bad, m'kay.

Mike, Just damn. Ouch. Sorry to hear about this. One of our players in the PGT, a low single-digit HI former College player, had rotator cuff surgery in February and *may* play by August/September... makes my February neck surgery and recovery (in-progress) pale in comparison... hopefully, you will recover sooner than John (the PGT member). I truly wish you a speedy recovery.. good news is that you live in the South and will be playing golf while we will be shoveling snow. Be good and do your PT.

Thanks for all the well wishes. From what I understand this shouldn't be that big a deal... nothing like rotator cuff stuff.

I thought for sure someone would have first hand experience, but apparently y'all be one yoked up group of golfers. :)

Work intensly to train your left lat ( and the right of course for balance) and your labrum with heal itself. Knives are for 2 irons.

I had a torn labrum two years ago on my right shoulder. It was partially torn so it was just a clean up. I was only in a sling for a day and was doing therapy a week later. Its not bad compared to a complete tear of the labrum. You see dislocation of the shoulder with a
complete tear a lot of times, especially in football. Hope that helps.

I had torn labrum, massive tear of the rotator, disconnected infraspinatus, torn supraspinatus and torn bicep tendon. I wasn't allowed to do anything golf related for 6 months, but it was my right shoulder (I'm right handed) ...if it had been my left, it would have been 8 months. If your tear in the labrum isn't too bad, I'm guessing 3 months for you. My rotator tear was so bad that they thought maybe replacement at first.

When you go to PT, make sure 1) you find a pretty good one and 2) you do what they ask of you. PT is a much bigger piece of this than I would have thought and they are extremely knowledgeable and my guys were very dedicated.

YOU WILL BE FINE

While my shoulder injury wasn't nearly this bad or from this type of a freak accident; these are why i 99% won't hit off matts. Just won't do it.
