Finally, some redeeming quality from that snoozefest of a tournament this afternoon.

You're not kidding- I thought a lot of the tournament was tough to get excited about. Although Mike Davis seems to do a better job of setting up the courses than his predecessors, I'm not one who needs to see these guys shoot a million over par. The course played very short this week and nobody broke par. Just shows how tough it was to make a putt on those greens.
Additionally, I think the USGA should look at extending the amount of exempt players to 75. The field is weak compared to the PGA and The Players.

I find it a little ironic that every time I see one of these sessions featuring a 30K Trackman, a multi-million dollar Pro and the operator (instructor), the laptop is on the ground and both of them are kneeling or bending, staining to see the screen.

Maybe someone should come out with a Trackman folding table and chair set!

What i got out of it is he loves to draw the ball just like he did in the open and it showed with the 2 deg inside out pattern also once again a tour player really does know where his clubface is in relationship to path. Players at this level know this stuff Hogan knew Nicklaus knew it unfortunately the amatuer has no clue where there clubface is!The information is there the how is the secret

Does anyone know if he is working toward zeroing out or is he able to repeat his 2 degree to the right path better?

A: Flightscope Prime - Bluetooth/wireless baby ;):) Set it up on any tee, read it from the cart.

He still swings out to the right a bit. But, he was certainly working on 'swinging left' as he did it on every pre-shot routine. I think he just doesn't want the path going more than 2* to the right and for now probably figures that if he keeps working on swinging left, gradually he'll get closer to 0.0 and in the meantime, he won't get outside of 2* to the right.

It was really obvious to folks who have been around here that McDowell's main pre-shot routine was to practice swinging left. Interestingly, Havret was doing the same thing.

I'm scheduled to be working on a Trackman at 1pm on Saturday. When I e-mailed the place about wanting to use Trackman on my own for my swing, they said they were really puzzled about it and never had that request before and that they only used it for fitting (and this is a golf academy).

Richie,
Dont be suprised about that. Using Trackman for fitting only is how a lot of people promote it as a selling tool.

This is nearly useless. Like having a Ferrari and driving it at 30mph max.

The problem is that if they dont understand the D-plane etc etc principles they dont understand how to utilise the technology and all you wind up with is a really expensive(although excellent) measuring tool.

Maybe he just wants to play that draw? I don't think zeroing out is a necessity if you can repeat the same thing over and over.

I agree wholeheartedly, Steve. I just wanted to post that because I always hear people say some golfer or some instructor could certainly own a Trackman or does own a Trackman, so they surely understand D-Plane and that was just an example of a pretty well known golf academy that has Trackman and thought I was crazy for asking to use it for my swing. I should bring a video camera with me when I go there to see the looks on their faces of 'is this guy from Mars?' :)

That may be the case. Nothing wrong with hitting a draw or a fade. I prefer the advantages of hitting it straight. I think McDowell knew coming in that he was going to hit draws and his path was going to be about 2* inside-to-out even with the 'swing left' pre-shot routine. That's why I think he just wanted to not get outside that 2*. But what his future plans are, only he knows.

Either way, good to see. Most of the Tour pros are not that open minded as people would think they are. McDowell is and it has paid dividends.

That video is nearly 3 years old. I'd be willing to bet his numbers have changed since then, especially if he's actually been working with the LM.
