Trackman says I have a ball speed of 144.1, Vertical Launch of 10.0°,Smash Factor of 1.43, Carry of 220.0 yrds. However, I have a Spin Rate of 4037 rpms. I use a Titleist 909 D2, 10.5° with UST 76g shaft. What can I do in my golf swing to reduce that Spin Rate?

Seems like the launch angle may be a bit low. Not sure if you already do, but maybe tee the ball a bit higher and a bit more forward in your stance and catch it more on the upswing? Also, a simple thing like the type of ball you play will be a bit of a variable. Seems like Softconsults post was dead on. I know that what I said is very simplified, and compared to the knowledge on this sight, probably no reason to listen to me... :D

Hit up on it more and by the looks of the smash factor either get a new driver or hit it square. Really without the other numbers this is just a guess.

Your spin numbers are not bad! At your ball speed 144,any reduction in spin rate without increasing the AA might even hurt your distance.
Your smash factor is very low, most likely your are hitting it low and towards the heal.
Increase your launch angle: Based on your spin numbers, I am guessing that your spin loft is around 13-15, and since your are launching it at 10, your AA is most likely negative. Experimenting by moving the ball forward, tee height aiming right . You need AA of about 3-6 to increase your distance. Hitting it high (above the CG) will also reduce your spin numbers by 500 rpm due to gear effect. Optimal numbers for your SS is. 12-15 launch angle , 150 mph ball speed and 3500 rpm will get you about 240-250 yds with good roll.

I'm curious about that 3500, but that's because I've seen this chart which backs it up. For a given ball speed here are the launch angles and rpm which "supposedly" yield longest distance. He should increase the Launch angle some, according to this chart.

Ball speed .......... launch angle .......... spin rate
130-140mph ........... 14.5° ............ 3600-4000rpm
140-150mph ........... 13.5° ............ 3200-3600rpm
150-160mph ........... 12.5° ............ 2800-3200rpm
160-170mph ........... 11.5° ............ 2500-2800rpm
170-180mph ........... 10.5° ............ 2300-2500rpm
180mph+ ................. 9.5° ............ 2100-2300rpm

Has Trackman given a better chart or anything like this?
