Brian: Can you describe how you train your pupils to have the correct downplane trail shoulder movement? The drills etc that you get your students doing.

Getting an on plane right shoulder is easier than you think...

1) a proper shoulder turn helps
2) a proper hand position too
3) moving your tail bone towards the target before you start down is the last.

If you can't do 1 or 2, number 3 is pointless even if you do it.

Move your rear end forward without your head moving BACK or FORWARD.

If you can get your shoulder moving at the ball to MAKE the above happen.....you are GOLDEN!

Many Manzella Drills on this but here is one:

Put your hand on your right hip and grip the club with your left hand only. Make little swings and SHOVE your hips forward through impact.

Brian: I have been working on your drill. Am I right in thinking that if you have too much hip slide/axis tilt you will tend to direct the trail shoulder under plane and too little will lead to a round house OTT move?

Can you post some more of your "Many Manzella Drills" as I feel this will be of great interest to many people here . I also think this subject would be worthy of your Audio Q&A section.

I like this drill a lot. It seems to help me get my right shoulder down and help put more pressure on my back foot at impact. Both are things that I have been having trouble with.
