Turned Left Foot

Almost all pros recommend turning your left foot out at address to promote free hip turn during follow through.

But how much?

I find you get more solid achors into the ground with less turn (about 15 to 20 deg). Feet less likely to slide on the ground.

I've seen 20* mentioned several times in different written instructional books and articles. Not that that makes it the truth.

There is no general magic number, you need to experiment to find out what works for yourself. Dig it out through trial and more trial, so to speak.

It seems like the older veterans turn it out more and more. Does that mean
they need more movement or does it mean that they have learned by trial and
error that it is a better way? Trevino and Couples have theirs way open.
It seems like the young bucks that keep it turned in always let it slip open
through the release interval.
I like pretty open.

I always reccomend this:

Have slow/lazy hips? Flare it out a BUNCH!

Have fast/very active hips? Keep it square or even TOE IT IN!

------

You'd be surprised how much flaring your foot effects your pivot.

Thanks for the good comments guys.

Yes, that's certainly not a good thing.
