Every time i see Kostis do a "review" of David Toms swings he ALLLLLLLWAYS focuses on TWO things:

1) How his hip sliding movement is a power sapper
2) He doesn't add a bunch of wristcock on his downswing

This time he also mentioned how his impact position is setup for accuracy not power.

Let me address 1 above; find me ANYONE who can hit it ANYWHERE that doesn't bump the hips to setup for AXIS TILT in the downswing. Now i'm not saying David is a power player because he isn't BUT that doesn't mean if he lost some axis tilt he'd hit it any further, sorry not gonna happen.

2 above; not everyone adds a bunch of wristcock on the downswing. It isn't necessary to play good golf. There are plenty of random sweepers or even sweep releasers who still hit the ball far enough to play tour level golf. Hell my own swing speed really isn't any different using a snap release or a random release which i use more of these days.

--------------------------

Now for the last one, i would love for him to explain to ANYONE how David's impact position is setup for accuracy versus power? Flat left wrist, un-arched, not too leaned, good posture, and some axis tilt. Are you kidding me?

ugh...had to vent sorry

More Kostis stupidity...

John Rollins picked a too short of a club on a par 3 and over drew it a bit and because it was short it hopped in the pond. So they go to the biz hub to figure it out.

Kostis concludes that his shoulders were TOO OPEN at impact which is what didn't let him start the ball on his line.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?

--------------------

Ok, so a slightly over drawn "push draw" would have not over drawn if he had MORE CLOSED SHOULDERS AT IMPACT? Instead of it BOUNCING into the pond he would have FLEW IT into the pond.

Sorry...i think i should just put it on mute. UGH.

He said something like "his shoulders were not square to the target line" during that same sequence. He is horrendous. But I'll take him over J-Miller and his endless "choking" rants all day long.

it doesn't matter what Kostis say's all that matters is Tom's score at the end of the day and at the end of the tournament, regardless of how it's accomplished, just turn the sound off works for me.:D

Nope. I'll take Miller anytime. Kostis sometimes seems to have no clue about the golf swing if it deviates from his "ideal pattern." At least Miller used to be able to do it and more times than not is right on with his commentary. His "what was he thinking" stuff does get annoying, but Kostis is just flat out wrong with his analysis a lot of times.

Procedure: Turn on any golf in HD, mute the TV, and turn on some music. Seriously! I do this all the time. Tonight, I'm burning through the oh so smooth sounds of Lyle Lovett while watching the Nationwide Tour.

ok.....so lets poll the question....

lets be honest...we all seem to have our opinion of who we like or dislike...............vote

best golf announcer???

worst golf announcer??

whether its host or color commentator

vote for only 1 in each

Sorry for the rants it just cheeses me because of how clueless he really is and then you have the ripple effect of BAD GOLFERS watching golf and seeing a GREAT IMPACT POSITION of David Toms who before injury and the FedEx cup i think played in 8 or 9 consecutive Tour Championships which means he made enough money to be in the top 30 on the money list and the bad golfer goes oh...don't want to that.

Whatever...this is what happens when you are as sick as me (bronchitis with 6 straight days of fevers and developing cabin fever) and can't do anything.

EDIT:

Did you that the short hitting poor impact position David Toms is number 7 on the career earnings money list for pga tour players? Only players in front of him are

1) Tiger Woods - 84M
2) Vijay Singh - 61M
3) Phil Mickelson - 54M
4) Jim Furyk - 40M
5) Davis Love III - 38M
6) Ernie Els - 34M
7) David Toms - 30M
8) Kenny Perry - 29M
9) Justin Leonard - 28M
10) Stewart Cink - 26M

Some pretty nice company huh? ;)

I can not vote guys. I am biased - I can not stand any of them. Especially Kostis. I did not like him even before he made Freddie cry. A-Hole!

I met a comedian this week at the Zurich that does the XM golf broadcast.

I haven't heard him yet, but he is supposed to be high-energy and funny.

Michael Breed and the "Golf Fix" talks faster and louder than I ever have, but from what I've seen, is only ordinary in content.

This means that the networks know that the "same-old same-old" is probably not the long term path for attracting viewers and listeners.

I think it is setting up quite nicely for the people out there with the right mix of talent. ;)

As far as Kostis' swing analysis talents go....you can do a search on this site and find plenty commentary.

I like to listen to Jim Nantz. To me, that guy = the voice of golf. I know he doesn't talk "swing", but I just like him.
