....
I like the visual. Which way do you think the buttend is pointing now for me? Why am I so mechanical?
If you look at the mechanics of an "open faced" shank" i.e. hosel leading the clubface into impact, you will find your left wrist will also be in a maximum ulna deviated position at impact (opposite of cocked, as in the backswing)..
Being in this position, with the back of your left hand still facing skyward, means the butt will probably be pointing outside you left hip somewhere, as your hands are ahead of the clubhead.......this is your baseball legacy..
Try this for correct feeling..
Grab one of your clubs and put the butt of the grip into your navel and take your normal grip on the metal of the shaft
As you swing back the butt will disconnect from your navel as your right elbow starts to bend....
On the forward swing simply reconnect the butt into your navel as you pass through impact..
On the follow through the butt will again disconnect as the left elbow starts to bend....
This should help place your hands (and shaft) in the correct plane thro impact...
