underrated? club length..

I noticed recently I had gotten in the habit of trying to lift the driver just a bit. When I made a normal swing, I seemed to be bottoming out just a bit early. Anyway, the way I fixed the flaw was by chocking down on the driver about an inch. I'm only 5'5 so in order to maintain spine angle I had to shorten the arc just a tad.

Anyway, it made me wonder how many swing flaws and bad habits are formed due to the fact clubs are not fit properly. Either too short, too long, or bad lie angles.

I just went to the trend (Wishon inspired i believe) of a shorter driver. 44 inches i went, and have not hit the ball so well off the tee in years. Whether it's the shaft, head, combination or just simply the 44 inches i do not know, but i have been hitting longer off the tee ever since changing. I am obviously finding the center far more consistently for starters.

I am 5'8 with a 32inch wrist to floor. One day you might find it worthwhile knocking up a 44, or shortening yours. Tipweights will cover the SW changes.

To fit or not to fit

I have NEVER seen a good fit do anything but help the golfer A LOT!

Boy! Are you ever right there, Brian.
If you PM me with your mailing address I will send you a copy of Tom Wishon's little book. It lists 12 items with your golf clubs that have to be correct or it could wreck your game. I'm sure you know them but I think you will like his presentation. This is a book that I require my customers to read before they come to me for a fitting.

Trip out this weekend

Yes - I'd be interested too - I'm off to Precision Golf this weekend to get myself completely assessed and probably order a set of custom Muira irons with PURED shafts.
