What degree wedge do you think Tiger uses on that 20-30 yrd pitch that goes low and bites?

He's said that he uses his 60 degree for most of his short game these days.

I have never heard a pro say you decelerate thru a chip or pitch. Hitting down on the ball is what creates the spin. You guys also aren't using the same sharp grooves those guys are.

As for pool, you hit below the equator of the ball to create backspin.

I have seen this statement many times on this board as well as others...Can someone explain this? How does someone do this to their own clubs? I would think you would ruin your clubs if you made a mistake...

Some people have special wedges in which a CNC (computer numerical controlled) machine mills (cuts) the grooves into the face of the wedge. Some of the bigger companies, like Titleist, do this with the claim that the precision machining helps 'bite' the ball or increase the friction which results in more spin.

Some good club makers might have access to these machines and can perhaps make a custom wedge with the CNC milling similar to what Titleist does.
