Slightly rolled takeaway, lagged under with some out hand path. I'd shank every shot that way. Definitely every pitch.

It's like he forgot he was set up to play a fade:)

Exactly what I was thinking... He is a feel player who likes to hit all different types of shots on the range instead of focus on swing thoughts. That swing looked like he sub-consciously mixed a couple of his different shots (or a setup for one ball flight and a swing for another ball flight) into one swing and it didn't work out.

Anybody can shank but when you lag the hosel down that late its just more likely. He admits t doing it sometimes. But he must not do it too often! I like the fact that right after the shank he just ripped it at the hole. I would have missed the green left for the rest of the day!

Players who return their hands closer to the ball at impact than they were at address are always going to be prone to shanking.

I would have him to stand closer to the ball(a scary proposition if you tend to shank),get a more vertical handpath to start the downswing and keep it going vertical into the strike with the hands feeling very close to the groin going thru impact.

But you can have a more vertical hand path without standing closer to the ball, right?

What would you tell him, Brian?

I'm with you guys on the importance of a vertical hand path, however if he had completed his turn it would not have been an issue. The out hand path is a result/observation, not a root cause.

In light of his more recent one, I totally agree!
