Wedges: Too much spin

After my lesson with Jim, I'm striking my irons much better. However, sometimes I'll have way too much spin with my wedges. Today I spun 2 GW's almost 10 feet back off of greens. Both shots were struck "great", they just had too much spin. Thoughts?

Ball = ProV1
Club = 52* low bounce Cleveland (standard grooves, not the box ones)

good problem to have.....I have the same issue with my Taylor Made TP with z grooves.......almost unplayable they spin so much.

Yes and no. I figure it's a "good" thing as I think it means I'm making better contact than I previously was. But it's definitely not a good thing when you spin it off the green when you almost had a birdie putt.

Do I need to swing different or look into a different ball?

Less spinney ball or stiffer shaft

Maybe simple as planning on carrying the ball a little further, allowing for some backspin. When you can't do that, maybe taking an extra club and laying off it a bit? Probably a question for Brian & his crew! Probably one of those things where as you get comfortable with the spin, you'll allow for it without even thinking about it. Will just probably take a while to get used to that spin. Isn't compressing the ball and getting that spin a great feeling though?;)

any premuim ball is going to spin. the Vx might help a little.
though throwing it behind the pin and pulling it back is the best opition. it takes LOTS of wedge practice to trust it and you have to know and own your yardages.

I would assume a less steep angle of attack would help lower the spin.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no correlation between spin rates and angle of attack, everything else being equal. Correct?

Also, for MOST players, the V1x will sping more with the wedges and less with the driver, while the V1 will spin less with the wedges and more with the driver.

I believe the pro v1 spins more all around and the prov1 x spins less all around.

I adjusted last year by going past the pin with my 60 deg Vokey. However, it does tend to shred covers, even on shorter shots.

More lean, less down, less speed

I'll give it a try. Hopefully the more lean will keep me around the same distance. My GW is basically my 100 yard shot and I really want to keep it in my tool box.

THANKS EVERYONE

PS Still looks like we are not in agreement with the ProV balls. Anyone really know?

I think the more lean will give you the same distance, maybe more, depends on how you get that lean and to what extent I suppose(ball position, openness of stance/clubface,swing). My GUESS on the balls is, the less you beat down(AofA) on it the longer those Pro Vs will last.
