Wedges: Too much spin

I think the more lean will give you the same distance, maybe more, depends on how you get that lean and to what extent I suppose(ball position, openness of stance/clubface,swing). My GUESS on the balls is, the less you beat down(AofA) on it the longer those Pro Vs will last.

VJ-

to get more lean you would have MORE down no? thats why I did not fully understand kevin's answer.
please explain what you know.

If you have more lean and want to hit it straight you have to swing more left. I try to do this by aiming my body more left at set-up and aligning the face at where I want the ball to go with my wedge(at the target). This is no secret, lots of players do this per D-plane or just figuring it out on the3ir own. My point in this thread for Curtis, is I think his angle coming into the ball is too steep, i.e. a little over the top. He needs to learn to shallow out the angle of attack to get that spin down. I hope this makes sense as to what I'm trying to say. If not, read Brians thread on the closest thing to the secret to tour quality shots he did a little while ago.

I understand the d plane stuff.............are you saying MORE left will shallow you out?

No..it's a swang thang.(swing thing):D Watch the pivot, in particular, the startdown of really good players and you will see what is being done. It's a sequence thang...lots of thangs to look at:)

you keeping a secert?lol

I have become more shallow with all the work I have done this summer. I guess I just don't know what "ya'll" call shallow.

Idont mind the high spin, I just have to be aware of the context of the shot.

Cool..So, YOU probably get it and know what you're doing. I don't have a secret..haha funny, but not everyone knows how to hit a proper golf shot for what you are trying to do. I know I'm still working my tail off to learn it. Wedge play IMO is the 2nd most important thing to learn in golf, with putting being numero uno. Get it. No secret, just trying to help out curtis with HIS secret.

VJ.....LOL........... no I think I "get it" and DONT know why.......I think that is why it took me a while to understand "swing left" and "D plane", cuz I already did it somewhat and didnt know, but still foggy at times and go crazy.

Believe me, I am constantly working on my swing, always trying to progress. I wish I had the patience to work more on wedges and putting.

like curtis, I need to learn "the more lean less speed", it sounds like it might do the trick.

heres to lowering the handy! cheers

So many factors. Quality of Lie,up hill, down hill, side hill, placement of weight at address, swing..lots of ways as I said. There is a simpler way, but still, alot of ways.
