I've been having an issue lately of hitting a thin shot that either starts right and slices (with irons) or starts straight and slices (woods). I'm playing with the NHA pattern and I may be lifting out of my posture when I think of taking my club up the wall on the backswing.

Hmm... So you feel like taking the club up the wall makes you feel like you are losing your posture? My guess is it's making you get a very flat shoulder turn.

You're probably coming over the top. When you push slice, the face is open to the target and the path is over the top. When you start out straight and slice, your face is more square to the target, but you're over the top.

NHA gets the golfer away from swinging to inside-to-out, but you're not supposed to go over the top either.

Ball too far back in your stance and you are striking it above the equator as your club head seeks its low point on your down swing.

In other words, you are blading it with a slightly open club face.

I noticed something today at the range. I was trying really hard to point the butt of the club to my belly for mid body setup. And my left elbow would gradually start to turn inward to my rib cage at the setup. Eventually my leftforearm is rotating so much inward when I bring the club up with my backswing the club face is wayyyyy too close and across the line, and i would have to really try to open the club face to not hook the ball. I was struggling at the range, then i suddenly remember BM said relaxing the arm and just let it sit. i went back with lil draw with no problem again.
