What do you have to do to hit your Pitching wedge 160 yards?

less loft, swing speed, shaft lean (in that order).
I have gone through multiple sets of irons. On an older set i could get PW around 150 if i hit it really well but guess what? It had like 44-45* of loft on it, that is why.
My current PW has 48* of loft and i hit that about 135-140 no wind on a good hit.

Whats the point of hitting a pitching wedge 160 yards? What will you hit from 110-120. Also hitting a wedge that far would mean you would have to drive the ball well in excess of 300 yards to keep consistent yardages in your bag.

first you gotta ignore the stamp on your clubs, degrees are far more important, and then the length and so on and so forth
second ask yourself why you would want to be able to do this? do you not have a club for 160 yards, you probably do...
third you should figure out if being able to hit your (guessing) 48 degree PW 160 yards will lead to any lower scores, likely not.
fourth you ought to work on controlling the location of your balls whereabouts and worry about how far you hit your second third and fourth longest clubs and not how far you hit your 3rd or 4th shortest club.

Had a buddy of mine that I grew up that was like this.
Hit his driver about 260 yards, but could hit a PW about 150.
He de-lofted the crap out of the club. With the shorter irons, he could still get them up in the air but since he was greatly altering the loft, the ball would go quite far. But with a 10* driver, the launch was too low and wouldn't go as far.

mgranato you make an excellent point. However, most of the chicks I see at the range are far more impressed when I crank drives. I wish I could find girls so refined to be able to appreciate wedge distances like that.

Have a good downwind and play it to your advantage or you could play links golf thats crazy distance anyway!! but I have seen it myself but my question is always why? Why put everything into a pitching wedge like that when you can take a 9 or 8 iron and swing with much more control.
