I teach what I get golfers to do when I give them "the business."

I'd like golfers who have gotten the treatment from me, to explain it to those who haven't.

The right amount of HMPH at the right time with the body.

Brian guides your body with the hips while you make the swing, he then at a point in the swing, pushes/turns/rotates your body in such a way that it does not interfere with the swing but helps the swing.

The feeling was foriegn, the look was tour, the result was awesome. Instantly.

The trigger for me was key. The trigger being when the body gets the most "bent over" during the downswing. Then the business was applied. The business being a rotational push put on the right hip and a rotational pull put on the left shoulder area. This was the form of the "business" I needed, and I'm sure the amounts given are enitirely dependent on the golfer. It had such a positive effect on my swing that I made a home movie after my lesson to document the feels with the moves.

"The business" for me was holding my left rib and right butt cheek coiled starting the DS. Then when it felt like my hands were at my right thigh Brian would fire the rotation with the left rib cage and right butt cheek around in a helicopter fashion.

This was probably the description Brian was looking for........I thought I was Brians first at giving "The Business" a go! You know an Italian thing! OH!!!!!!

As someone who has gotten the "business" twice in the last two years it is still a tough thing to describe in words. All I know is the shots I hit when getting the "business" have really good numbers and fly crazy good. I do have some video of Brian giving me the business I can send to him and he can post it if he wishes. First I will have to figure out how to get it from my camcorder to my laptop. Hmmmm.
The sound is not good because it was really windy but it is a good example. I think. I will check this thread tomorrow and see if he wants the video. Put a floor down for my parents in Toledo today and I am a bit tired.

Reading about the guys who have had "The Business" and their subsequent breathless exhilaration is like reading the letters forum in Penthouse*. I can only live vicariously.....

OLIVER, thanks alot I just spit coffee on my keyboard. ROFL!!!!

Brian told me two different things about my pivot.... 1st was to feel like I was getting my left shoulder as far away from the ball as could using my left glut and left leg to jump out of the ground while he held my head ... cause I was out of sequence and I didn’t have a problem squaring the club face.... No on to the second session about a year apart keep in mind. He saw that I hit the ball better when on my back swing I felt like I did NOTHING yes nothing because I guess I started over doing all that pivot stuff and it actually SLOWED my club head speed down...
Was only hitting my 6 iron 165 carry.... So once he told me to do nothing on the backswing I guess I was already doing the proper motion for me I didn’t need to feel like I had to add more. But on the downswing after I got the club started on its path he told me to feel like I had a feel of a jump through my right thigh area and left thigh area and get that left should as far away from the ball and it put the UMPH back in my swing ....6iron went up to 183 carry real stuff ... and it has stayed there.. Brian said to me thats more like it!!! He has never told me not to pivot on the through swing he just told me to do nothing on MY backswing!!

I hope this helps...

Having penned experiences on both forums, all I can say is IT'S ALL TRUE! ;)

My last lesson with Brian, we worked on the downswing pivot and path, emphasizing the hip movement thru impact and raising the belt level to finish. What I was taught was the anti-thesis of stall. It was a fuller, more active, athletic pivot thru the ball.

LOL. It's critical that you don't get the two mixed up. I'm guessing the "coupling point" in one is not quite the same as in the other....;)

When, or if, you lose the feel of "the business" what do you look for to get it back?

He started my hips later than I was used to - much later. Seemed that this allowed the shoulders and arms to accelerate faster. When he started the hips it was controlled and compact. There was a feeling of the hips supporting the rotation rather than driving it.

I don't think this question is a threadjack, but if it is please feel free to broom it, and I'll lick my wounds in private.
Brian asked those of you who have received "the business" to enlighten us as to what it feels like, and I'm struck by how many of you describe feelings that I also have when I'm swinging well.
If, or when, you lose that feel, what do you generally trace it back to? Moreover, what do you do to get back in the saddle, as it were?

The golf swing has how many possible feels? Now, pit that against how many feels you can realistically monitor in the time it takes to make the swing.

Your first question, "what do you generally trace it back to?", is why I have such a firm hold on my amateur status. A couple good swings or rounds with the that correct feeling, and I think "that's locked up, let's work on this".

Which leads to your second question, "what do you do to get back in the saddle?" Reprioritze.

Amateur golf is EASY.
