Jim, Is the elbow position, pitch vs punch, the most visible sign that someone is swinging vs hitting?

Look at the face at startup.

Hitters like to have the face 'stare' at the ball during the takeaway.

For swingers, the left palm turns and faces the plane very early on.

Do you really have to use start up swivel to be listed as a swinger??? What golfers are taught to act as if the club is connected to their stomach (navel) and to lift the club into position once they have made a full turn?

OR does turning you shoulders and club at the same time result in a similar turning of the left palm????

--- Before TGM I thought that the "magic of the right forearm" was a technique that teenaged boys used while locked away in the bathroom.......

90% of the time however the main thing is how they use their right shoulder and arm in the stroke.

You can 'see' the difference? What difference can the eye see in determining hitting vs swinging by watching the rt. shoulder and arm. Boy, I've got a lot to learn!

Also, the snap vs flip question earlier???

LOL i just got home, let me relax a bit. I have to go find where i put that little yellow book.

Yes i can usually "visually spot" the differences. I may not be able to see if they are actually using their right arm but i can notice how they use their right shoulder whether they are "cranking the flywheel" or using it to "blast off."

I have mine with me at all times........but I haven't arrived yet.

Regarding cranking the flywheel, I understand the blasting off for the hitter, but how is the 'cranking' applied.

You're basically trying to spin your shoulders as hard as you can while leaving your arms inert to create THROWOUT.

However the "trick" is to learn how to "spin downplane." Most people roundhouse which is a waste of time. It's hard to learn.

Took me many months to learn how to get a right shoulder downplane correctly and whenever i tried to "speed it up" it wouldn't work. Roundhousing occurred. After lots of practice i can now "spin downplane" as hard as i want to create more speed, throwout action, etc.

Okay, this is where I demonstrate my breathtaking ignorance..... again.

Jim, what's MTD?

Also, I assume the snap you're using is 10-14-E. Have you ever used 10-24-F? If so, could you explain the difference in feel accomplishing it?

Cliff

Cliff meant 10-24-E not 10-14-E. Yes that's the snap i'm using.

I don't quite understand 10-24-F to be honest.
