What's happened to V.J.?

I just thought of this while watching the Golf Channel's preview of the PGA Championship. He has literally disappeared from sight. No one even mentions him. I know he didn't try to qualify for the U.S. Open and he didn't bother with the Open Championship.

Is he hurt, lost his game, or has he just quit caring?

I know he's reached that age where the game tends to fade away, but with his work ethic and swing I figured he might be the one to keep it going until he was eligible for the senior tour.

Well he had a second, a third and three total top tens this year. I think he had a knee injury last year and he's 48 so I imagine that has something to do with it. Also as we know his putter comes and goes. I see him dominating the senior tour.

According to my stats, he's not playing all that bad....he's

98th in Advanced Total Driving
140th in Putts Gained
81st in Adjusted Short Game Play (shots from 1-20 yards off the green)
47th in Danger Zone play

I would imagine he's gearing up for the Champions Tour. Putting might hold him back, but I'm guessing he'll tear it up.

I am pretty sure I read that he withdrew from US Open qualifying because of injury. Since the Open is pretty soon after I am doubting he was ready for it either.
