what's harder to chase "ideal" or "optimal"?....

The Joe Namath Episode, is hard to watch, not because of Joe Willie.

Broadway asked, "Coach, why do I swing over the top?" Hank gave him the overrotated take

away swing out to the right drill.

If half of America had that rhythm and swung left enough like Broadway Joe, it would

lower the National handicap 5 shots.

Come on, fix the face.

Even after double knee replacement, Broadway Joe could make an episode of The PBS News Hour exciting.

When Haney gave Joe the chipping, lob shot, and bunker lessons, I wanted to jump through

the TV for 10 Nutcracker Drills!

Just me and Hank, one on one.

Funny that this has come up.... I am a regular guy searching to get better and had a chance to get on TM for an hour yesterday and I used it for a tune up.... To what the "ANSWER MAN” has taught me through feel and understanding of what the numbers should be, say and do for MY swing and what the ball looks like when I do it right with the numbers....

So I have my vision, my feel and now I KNOW what the numbers mean ( UNDERSTANDING of MY golf swing... is it ideal maybe not but is it the way for me to play golf at my skill level with the heat on (Heck YES) !!
The guy that had the machine was LAZY for one seemed if he didn’t want to be there... But never the less he set the machine up ... I watched him set it up to ensure what we choose as the target was correct ( how did I know he was setting it up correctly I watched Brian and listened to him as he did it).

No as far as the numbers my number WHERE much better when I used the machine yesterday they actually where at the level that I attained when I left Brian months ago!!! Thanks Brian.... I maintained it and my AOA was even Less than it was when I left so it’s working ... I understand it!!! So it has made me better because I got the confirmation that what I’ve been doing without the eyes of the teacher right there with me is working... When I made a swing I went back and look at the numbers on the screen.... I knew I was too steep ….The NEXT swing I FIXED it and knew how to fix it because I’ve asked and it was answered.

So for the next half hour I went out and hit REALLY REALLY good irons shots with really really good numbers and I was laying the ball on the target from 3 sets of distances with 3 different irons.... IT works to have the machine and know what you need to do with your swing.....
The driver even was better..... I called it a TUNE UP session I know now whenever you have a chance to get on the TM do it!!!

Brian requested a shaft change after our session and I found the correct one now and the head I had was a really good head for me... It made a world of difference now I can do the things he told me too without fear that I would hit a crappy shot and based on the shaft I was using in the Driver and now I have really good numbers and I’m getting the distance that I’m suppose to with MY swing speed and how well I’ve been able to hit the driver in the center of the face and get Ideal numbers with the driver. I like Function over Form and I like the scores I’ve been putting up

That's just an opinion. Some people automatically assume the persons using the Trackman don't know what they're doing. It's so friggin easy to get good numbers the right way if you do know what you are doing. Sure, if a novice or intermediate player, or for that matter, a Tour player, tries to alter numbers and doesn't know the best way to go about it, they'll be confused. But i guarentee less confused than trying to chase down some look on video and trying to read why the ball is flying the way it is. "But I thought if I get some more ER or this bend or that bend, it'll straighten me out? " Bullshit.

I also love this crap about, "Well, what if the face is wide open coming into impact then flip closes. How does Trackman know this?" Why the hell does Trackman have to know that? If you have a guy that has face problems, it'll show up no matter what. If you have some über talented guy who can square the face up with it being wide open late in the downswing, it'll show up as not having a face issue. If that person has sporadic ballflight under pressure or can't play in the wind, any good teacher can see that could be an issue without Trackman. Because its an addition to a teachers toolbox!!!! For the last time, hopefully.

Great post, Kevin.
