Generally, most people prefer 10g spreads. But that isn't a hard fast rule, however 20-25g between Driver and 3 wood seems like too much. The only way i could see that happening is if you were using a 60g driver shaft and a 80g 3 wood shaft.

Wow, seriously? No wonder I hate my 3 wood. I have a 25g spread just between the shafts, nevermind total weight. My 3 wood always feels too light, but I thought it was just the not-so-skilled paws at the end of my arms.

My driver is 360 grams; not sure about the 3w.

The answer is in the question.

The new crop of ultra light products are made to be just that, and typically do show higher swing speeds. However, you can't really expect one of those to be "in line" with a more traditional weighted club.

To increase your swingspeed and hopefully your ball speed. However few players are good enough to consistently use a 50g shaft from it simply being so light your swing and "feels" vary a lot. Plus most can't be made stiff enough for even medium swing speed players. I do know that matrix made a 50g shaft that was good enough but expensive.

I prefer 70-75g driver shafts.

Check both your swing weight and shaft weight in your 3 wood
