I think most of us prefer/enjoy your video posts and thank you! The English language is limiting in trying to communicate ideas, especially the ideas you're addressing with 1.68.

I'm still blown away that I can hit down 4* with my 6 iron and pick the ball clean. Never thought that was possible. I Keep learning something new.

Thx Brian, any chance you have some new drills for going normal? Going to the range all day tomorrow, just watched ideas for the 2nd time.

I'm sure it's physically possible but why would would you want to achieve it?

I have been to many pro tournaments and I really have not seen any players that consistently pick it clean. The tee area on the par3's are riddled with divots.

The goal of iron shots is not one of maximum distance. It's about getting the spin to stop balls on fast greens.

I'm kind of jealous I missed out on a lot of the new information put into your teaching this summer. The Manzella Academy instructors should be commended for their approach to learning and teaching the golf swing.

They really are great, aren't they? They're always ready to lend a hand and bring the best stuff to the table. I, like everybody else, have no idea where knowledge of the golf swing will be, even a year from now, but I'm willing to wager that the guys here will be a integral part of it.

Exactly.... and I have a shallow AoA with my irons because I have a steep swing which allows me to nip the ball and only graze the grass in front of the ball. The trajectory is rather high and when the ball lands on the green it bounces several times and comes to a dead stop. I'm deadly accurate from about 170 yards, but suffer with my driver and longer clubs... and will never conquer the driver. (Palmer wrote that he did not feel comfortable with his driver until he was 29 y.o..!!!)

To flatten my swing I would have to crouch down more, and that would destabilize my swing. My clubs are 2º up and 1" longer... which creates a very different swing dynamic as well as game strategy. I'm 6-4 and 175#.... not the best physique for golf ... basketball, tennis, yes ... golf no.

My golfswing was scientifically optimized in the last century ... and now everybody is trying to catch up .... :D

p.s. ... the pros use spin for control ... I use trajectory. I can hit down to keep it low, but it gets dicey... oh well at least I'm smart about it ...!!!

I suspect they are still learning ... and trying to teach themselves too after going to science school ....

Steve, have you tried using a heavier and shorter driver?I don't think players like Hogan ever used a driver longer than 43.5inch and that was the length of Tiger's driver when he won 4 majors in a row.

Longer, lighter drivers no doubt hit it farther but I don't think they are as easy to hit straight.

Steve T,
You recent comment is, at best, ignorant to the fact that AOA and left have a direct relationship to the resultant path and speed. Stick to what you make a living and have a great time playing golf. I have had enough of your comments infecting this and every discussion that you know little about!!!! Try making a putt that means making your mortgage payment and then I will respond to your weak arguments.
To all the rest of the forum members and Steve T,
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all as well!
P.S. Get new clubs!

I take divots all the time and have shallower attack angles with my 6 iron when taking a divot. The point is that even with a divot or not attack angle is tricky and you need Tman for accurate data. One normally assumes a negative AoA with a divot and the bigger the divot the bigger the AoA. Not always true.

I am a handle dragger and can tear a range up. Still working on the new release.

Wow, Matt ... where did I say that, and I don't even know what that means ..??!!!! Sounds like you're dipping into the Xmas cheer and the Manischewitz a tad early ... bitter, bitter, bitter ...!!!

I've tried that, but I have to swing very steeply with the shorter driver and that creates new problems. I have a regular lie driver with a 45" shaft so that I can reach the ball from my 6-4 stature shoulder height.

The transition from steeper iron swings to flatter driver swings is problematic. I think I'm scientifically snookered ... oh, well.

But thanks for the suggestion anyway .....

Do someone know about definition of AoA measurement in Trackman?

I've heard some people say there is big difference between FS and TM and also that TM is measuring it right way and FS not so well. I think there is no big difference in measuring, but there can be some in definitions and and the measuring period.

Would be great to know how they do it, because there is huge difference if you take longer period before impact, short period before impact, or even period just before impact and just after it.

I agree Teesey, I sometimes think that the science is very unscientifically acquired.

Nevertheless, I am grateful for the benefits I get from all this unscientific science.
