Is there a thread dealing with this particular point that a kind soul could throw my way? I do not fully understand how a dude can hit 6* down on it, but still pick it. I have been meaning to look this up. Any help is appreciated.

It depends upon how "long" your low point is at the bottom of your swing. U vs. V bottom. You could swing down very steep and then come back up very quickly before taking a divot. Most people take divots and have a negative attack angle but if you pick your iron that doesn't always mean the attack angle was <1. That's the best way that I understand it. I've picked iron shots clean on Trackman with >4* (negative) AoA for a 6 iron and turn around take a divot and hit -2* AoA for the same club.
