where does the downswing really start from?

update
5 days and counting with a "perfect pivot" the ball is flighting very well, penetraing baby draws today was the best range session so far, it was pretty darn good and left me smiling ear to ear :) :)
what is the rule around hear? after five days can I take the band aid label off?

Fundamentals ain't band aids ;)

Why would I say WHAT is poor advice?

Thanks,

I don't know Why you said it and What you said it about.

Post #12 you said that you were glad that it worked for me and some, but very poor advice for most.

Just wondering why it is very poor advice for most.

What pattern?

1. overlap
2. strong single action
3. pitch
4. 2,3,4,w/extensor action
5. square square
6. turned shoulder plane
7. a-b up b-a down
8. forward press to start hip action/mental fix
9. standard
10. dual horizontal
11. D-1
12. A-standard
13. B-flat
14. shiftless up and down (although shift happens ever so slightly)
15. standard - hands controlled
16. right anchor
17. flat left
18. standard w/1/4 turn left wrist
19. lag loading
20. wrist throw
21. top
22. random sweep
23. straight line
24. non-auto in the beginning auto sweep once learned

What part of this pattern would Brian not advise using?

Have to admit about #20 that I've been having a lot of fun with using a hand throw (feeling of?), lately. It seems to be a deeper horizontal release type of feel. But probably the wrong word description, TGM wise, I'm sure.

About #24. This too is elusive to me as far as terminology is concerned. Because it can be something I do on purpose but through practice it has become second nature.....would this be considered automatic?

Thanks guys,

Ya automatic means the release just happens....the clubhead is thrown out....the accumulators release automatically.

Non-auto means you make it happen.....most commonly with a right arm thrust I think. Anything else would seem to be a manipulation to me.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

at the end of week one I am flighting the ball much better. For the FIRST time in my 7-8 years of golfing I have hit some GREAT puch shots 3 Days in a row. This is exiciting and I cannot wait till I have this ingrained. I am now hittin that baby draw which lets me know that path and realease are pretty good. The last three days I have been hitting the range ball 190+ six irons with a smooth draw of three yards and a VERY piercing trajectory. The way the ball is flying in regards to height, trajectory, and shape is VERY exciting. The mental concept of a proper pivot on the back swing, and understanding what I was doing is wrong, has TOTALLY enableed me to understand why I have had issues in the past. I just dont understand why more instructors dont know how important this stuff is. Many people think changing a swing takes so long but yet in one week I have done what I had not done in 7-8 years. I guess when you are adding a compensation a swing change takes time, but when taking away compensations it happens rather quickly.
