Which Rangefinder

do you all use? make/model? I do not want a gps, I want a laser. Bushnell and nikon seem to be the most popular, but I hear good things about leupold.

Any info would be great.

Thanks

I have the Leupold GX-1 (non-slope model). At the time, it was the best price laser which had the features i was looking for. I have had no problems with it. I can quite easily laser a pin from 250 yards with no difficulty. It has helped my game immensely. Great for yardages on the course, and has also been a great tool for the range, especially working on 100yards and in. Whatever rangefinder you get, make sure it has a scan or pinseeker mode. With this I can lock on a target and get a yardage in about 3 seconds.

I have both a Pinseeker 1500 with slope and a Nikon (forget the model no.)

Here is why I have both. My original Pinseeker 1500 ceased working around the end of it's first season. I sent it in for warranty replacement. It took 4 months, but they did send a new replacement. This one did not make it through the next season either. I got their attention with a letter to the President of the company. Replacement arrived in a couple of weeks. It to crapped toward the end of last season. Replacement arrived very quickly.
That means I'm on number 4.

By now I have lost confidence, so I bought a spare one, the Nikon.

At some point last year I'm started asking league golf pals with Pinseekers whether they had problems. None. Then it hit me. What was I doing that was different from them? I had this habit of cramming the thing into my right back pocket. The other part of the habit was riding in the cart with it
still in the pocket. I stopped doing that. We shall see if it makes it through this year.

The comparison. Pinseeker wins hands down. Wider field of view. Easier to
use. I don't pay attention to the slope thing. The Nikon is small, harder to hold steady, harder to find the pin. The hold steady part is a big factor. As long as you are not old and shaky, a Laser will be a great aid to your game.

For your information the Pinseeker ia a Bushnell product, don't know if you knew that. I have used both the Pinseeker and the Sky Caddie, for me I prefer the Sky caddy because I felt that I never got an accurate reading with the laser. Always seemed a little shaky in my hand and looking through the eye piece felt that eye lashes were getting in the way.

I have the Nikon LR1200 and it has been the perfect gentleman for the past two years.
Good thing it doesn't get disappointed, like a good bird dog might, with a crappy shooter.:)

Laser Rangefinder will always be more accurate than GPS presuming that you are steady enough to lock on the flag and presuming that you see the flag. Even the high end Sky Caddie, where you can move the flag around, presumes you can determine the relative location of the pin by eyesight.

I do like the SkyCaddie Front, Middle, Back measurements. One caution to a new Laser user. You still need to do a reality check to prevent the accidental lock on a tree in the background. You just might overshoot the green by 50 yards. Don't ask me how I know that!

Trust me, I have the Pinseeker and it ain't fool proof.

We are talking about the feature that somehow senses the
flag and locks on it. The Nikon does the same thing. For Hunters
it probably called Deerseeker.

How so? I had the pinseeker and not quite sure what you are refering too.

it gives you the yardage of the object that is closer. so, if there are trees behind the flag, it may "shoot" them first, but it will then catch the closer object and give you that yardage.

Bushnell Tour V2 is a awesome. It is small and very very accurate. It will easily pick up a flag or any object. There is a Nikon that is very similar and is waterproof, i think Callaway actually has their name on that one.

iphone and a bushnell.

theres some good iphone apps that run GPS, that and a bushnell is money.
Get your club to install reflectors too, they make targetting way easier.
If they wont you can buy reflector tape and DIY just below the flag on the pole... the greens crew might raise an eyelid, but you can also fake a letter from the president and slip it on his desk....
