Which short game book?

I am looking to improve my short game. I have looked at the Pelz and Utley book, and I own the new Mickelson video. Any suggestions on which system works best? I am currently using the NSA swing method, however I am backing off on the twistaway some because I have started hooking the ball.

I have tried the hinge and hold Mickelson uses with mixed success. Some of my shorts are great and some are pretty bad. I am currently chipping with the ball off my right foot (Mickelson says left foot) and the shaft leaned forward. That seems to give me the most constancy, however I cant get those shot to check up real short on a short sided chip.

Any suggestions or comments are welcome.

Thanks!

On a short sided chip...depending on the quickness of the greens, you can still use the same technique(hands forward), but the thing you change is the ball poistion and club(assuming you are'nt using your most lofted already). put the ball in the middle or slightly forward of middle and you should get all the loft/spin you need..unless you play at Muirfield village or something.

Get yourself the Over and Out short game or bunker game video from Brian. He talks alot about bunkers but also on the short game outside of the bunker. It definitely changed my thinking on the short game and possible ways to hit shots to get different outcomes.

Expanding on that and having had personal experience a lesson from Brian on his short game matrix would be the absolute best for you. With that being tough for you, if he ever comes out with the short game matrix video or if you can find info on this site you want to get that information in your hands. I guarantee you won't find it explained better in Phil's video.

I moved the ball forward this morning with my 60* Vokey and it really helped. I am glad you can confirm that method as I was kinda messing around with it.

I usually play local courses such as Royal American, Blackhawk, or similar courses. Nothing with the speed of Muirfield.

Thanks!

Thanks I will look at the video. I thought it was only for Bunkers. My bunker game is not the best so I may get it anyway. I usually get out but I need to get closer to the pin.

That method will serve you well..next take what you learn in the bunkers(applying bounce) to the rest of your short game and you have all the shots you probably will ever need. The simpler you keep this game, the better, especially around the greens.
