White drivers / putters

Anyone else noticed how ubiquitous white putters have been at the U.S. Women's Open? I wonder if TaylorMade has determined that guys only care about the driver while women only care about the putter.

The whole white headed driver thing has really started to bug me. I mean really, who's complaining about the glare off their driver? Oh well, good marketing by TaylorMade I suppose.

I was at Golf Galaxy recently and listened to a sales guy tell a customer that the white head and black face is for alignment purposes. Perhaps, but is aligning a clubface really that hard? How many people align their body properly for their swing, and then misalign the clubface? I think it is marketing and nothing else. I used to have a Macgregor white fang putter, which was a bullseye painted white. I really thought it looked cool. I also had a white zebra putter that I putted well with. I just don't see how it made me align the club better.

I've done it off and on my whole golfing life. Just caught myself setting up pretty square body and dead shut face. That being said, I didn't notice the black face/ white head combo helping the few times I've hit the R11.

I work in a pro shop and I have heard from reps that they tested many different combinations and that the white head with the black face allowed golfers to best align themselves.
I am still not interested, I'll stick with the r9.
Hopefully they go back to the aluminum lead color they used to make them...or maybe come out with a wood grain finish to make it look like an old classic.

Magic marker, oh my goodness, no. A fake wood grain finish would have it looking like the Brady Bunch style station wagon with the wood trim. Wait, the Brady's didn't even get the wood trim...even they knew better.

Now, the aluminum color is not a bad idea. I used to take my old original burner and polish the finish off with a buffing wheel....blinded both me and my playing partners.
