Brian....

Who on tour do you think you could fix the most and make the most improvement on easily?

Anyone who has stood out as of late?

Easy..VJ

Get him back to a normal-ish top of the backswing position where he actually reaches the TSP.

He'd start competing again almost immediately.

Actually that wouldn't be too hard either. When VJ was winning lots of tournaments and putting well he was using a putting arc and stroking his putter on an arc.

Ever since he decided to try and use more straight back and straight through type aids he has suffered.

i would tell him to do 50 percent of his practice with the belly putter, he seemed to putt his best right before and after he switched from belly to standard

Only because he doesn't have a clue how to putt straight.
Don't know that he putted great when he was using the Putting Arc. Do you have stats to back that up? Last stats I saw he was up there in the putts per GIR!

VJ Trolio the designer of the putting arc made a post on Lynn's site stating the above.

Please do a search on his site and you'll find the post.

Facts?

Jim,
So you presented facts? Someone else's opinion as your own? Again, where is YOUR evidence? Don't blow me off to someone else's site.
Of course V.J Trolio is going to say that Singh's numbers were not as good as when he was using the Putting Arc.
Cheers,

1) i won't respond to disrespectful posts. Please do not do it again.

2) i personally saw Singh using the putting arc in pre round coverage of events during the year he won multiple events

3) i again began seeing vj start using more straight back straight through type of training aids after he won the PGA at whistling straits and he hasn't putted very well since

4) i am not going to take the time to find the post if you are that interested, you should

I guess I was responding to your lack of respect.
2) i personally saw Singh using the putting arc in pre round coverage of events during the year he won multiple events
So what? Does not mean that that was the reason for his success.
3) i again began seeing vj start using more straight back straight through type of training aids after he won the PGA at whistling straits and he hasn't putted very well since
Again, where are your stats?

You're the one making grandiose, sweeping statements!

homersson, dude, chill. Jim was not making "grandiose, sweeping statements!", in fact, he didn't even bring it up (VJ's putting), I did. He was simply responding to the comment I made (in jest) about his opinion on why he feels VJ isn't putting as well.

Actually,

When he won the PGA here at Whistling Straits. He was putting straight back and thru. He had a huge contraption that he used everyday on the putting green to promote that swing. I was there everyday. However, I can't remember if he had that belly putter at the time.

It seems as though his game went south after he went back to the conventional length putter, but I can't verify that.

Vj was putting better when he had the belly because using a belly pretty much forces you to swing on plane on an arc which he contintued to do when he went back to a standard length putter.

However he then began to use more straight back and straight through type aids as the poster above mentioned. I cannot confirm when he did but i did notice that after he did is when his putting started suffer.

He uses multipe aids but i remember 2 specific ones he used. If i can find them on the net i'll post which ones he began to use.

I think the answer here needs to be Craig Perks..he's really struggling and Brian worked with him before all the struggles, so I think he could make a big improvement with Mr. Perks.

Interestingly, I am being 'harder' on Jim, due to the respect I have for all of his good, considered, and thoughtful posts, and because of Brian's respect for him.

Again though, all I have heard is conjecture about his good or bad putting, without any stats!

Let's take this thread on a tangent. Jim, what are the most important putting stats in your mind, and why??

P.S Maybe grandiose and sweeping is a little harsh....it was made during my zombie hours of the morning.

According to TGC's What's In The Bag, when Singh won the 2004 PGA his putter was a Ben Hogan by Bettinardi BHB5-C. When he won the 2003 John Deer, the putter was definitely a belly.

As to golfers to fix, my vote is for Mickelson.

I thought he was putting with more of an arc stroke that week?
